Like the other Corsairs, refrain from excessive use of vertical manuevers; unless you have plenty of E.

I missed this earlier too...

That's about 180 degrees off, IMO. 

In other words, you should be using the vertical as much as possible, especially when you're low on E.  As a matter of fact, I'd recommend using the vertical unless you have so much E you can afford to just burn/give it away.

The one thing in the vertical I'd avoid if low on E would be roping.  Don't try it, and don't try to follow one up.
