Interesting take. I always considered base takers as the ones who can't fight.

Hence why they just take bases...... one of the easiest things to do in the game.

Are you saying shooting buildings down, strafing map rooms, and hitting 'B' to release troops is easy?  I'd like to see you do it!   :lol

I don't think in my post, at any point I either condoned nor condemned the taking of FT/TT.. Personally in fact, I avoid it.. If you want to get personal and it makes you feel better, that's fine.. But having never flown with me or knowing exactly what I'm about in any way at all makes your statement a bit weak.. However, if someone is ruining your game play I'd do a double check before throwing stones.. I may be short on a lot of things but class, is not one of them  :salute

OK, lets look at what you posted.....

I'd have to say that if a base is capture-able, folks are going to capture them.. Threads like this don't make anyone feel bad about doing it.. It probably just incites them to do it more.. It's funny that so many people here think they know the correct way to play.. Is there one? I try to make this game fun for myself within the constraints of whatever is happening on the map, I certainly don't let anyone's griping or belittling on the BBS affect my own game play.. There must be a hundred threads like this and they nor this one will change anything..

SO by NOT letting it effect your game play your saying you play the way you want, and you point out that that anyones "gripping" isn't going to affect your own game play.

Funny that sounds like your saying your going to play the game the way you want even if it screws with others players fun.

As I said I don't care about what happens in TT/FT, and it has nothing to do with what I posted other than it is usually taken by people who display the same attitude toward others players you seem to have. I wasn't pointing you out personally, but I was pointing out the "I'm going to play my way no matter how it effect others" attitude. My statement was based off what you posted, your words. I didn't make anything up here.

If you took offense at what I said, maybe I hit a bit too close to home.

LOL... I actually meant quite the opposite, though reading it again I can see how it could be taken that way.. I generally steer clear of TT/FF speaking for myself.. What I intended to say was that stomping on folks and throwing names like "tards", "noob" etc. is probably not the best way to get them to change.. As far as making it fun for myself that does not include intentionally stepping on anyone else's toes.. And I would not want to see it from anyone that fly's with me.. No offense taken either way..

how 'bout this though: 5k air launch for fighter dweebs. bomb proof bubble around gv's. 4 sector wide insta-respawn town for the bomb tards. and a little monkey running around with a flag. Whoever captures the flag and takes it to their base wins teh war. That way everyone's happy and the ftw's can spend the entire day playing with their monkey.

edit: forgot to add 30k launch with optional pressurized suits for akak and steve  :aok

So basically, your problem with AH is that it's not more like a console game.

You understand that both of you could say that at each other all day and all night and each one of you will just be making a bigger fool of yourself than the other, right?

I can understand the complaint about tank town, depending on the circumstances. But the fact is that capturing bases is part of the game, and players who don't care about it have no more right to complain about others doing it as the latter have to complain that the first bunch aren't joining the takes.

As for WMLute, your squaddie was being rude, it's that simple. And if your complaint is that the squad in question (which, for the record, was not mine, although I was there and stand by their action) spoiled your chances of padding your scores by gang-vulching anything that moved on the base, I have zero sympathy. If you had wanted a fight, you could have gone and found a FIGHT, not a neo-maxi-zoom-dweebie vulch-fest, so don't try to pretend anyone was ruining your furball or shutting down a good fight. And bombing hangers may not take a lot of skill (depending on circumstances, although a lot of people in this game seem to have trouble hitting even one hanger with 42,000 lbs. of bombs) but it takes considerably more than it takes for six guys to hover around a small field waiting for a single plane to appear so they can kill it before it moves two inches.

Look,
there are many other bases on the map that could be captured, but for some reason they choose to go to tank town and ruin the fights that everyone else there are having who don't care about taking bases.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying base capturing. Its just that people at tank town are there because of the the close proximity of their base to the enemies and enjoy the crazy fights that erupt there  due to there being three countries clashing in one place. Taking a base in tank town disrupts that balance and ruins the fun. You don't need tank town to win the war, **PLEASE** TAKE BASES ELSEWHERE ON THE MAP.

Yeah, that's right, you just got your rear handed to you by a fuggly puppet!

I don't regard disagreement as whining, or, for that matter, as evidence of lack of skills or intelligence, as a number of folks above have alleged against each other. I only said people who were whining are whiners.   :)

That's a tough tell...............  Many a day I'm a Richard Nixon just to be one, other days I'm too drugged up on pain killers to know what I'm saying and yet other times..... It's more fun to make people more and more angry.

I'm not sure which 1Loki is but he seems like a nice guy in-game........

Sorry. I realized it was sarcasm - the monkey with the flag kinda gave it away even for someone as dense as I am - but I guess I misinterpreted what you were trying to get across with the sarcasm.

I started this thread in hopes that 1 or 2 guys out there would read this would understand (not neccissaraly agree) to why TT means anything to certain people that play this game.
TT/FT is like that bulk candy you see in supermarkets..easy to grab, throw in your mouth/pockets, noone will ever notice right? There are no signs ( at least I've ever seen any) that say " dont eat this unless you buy it". We as civilized human beings, just dont do it.

TT/FT, even though "Capturable", is used as a meeting place for most players to be in close proximity of eachother if they dont have time or will to reset map, pork ords, sink CVs, bring a goon..etc.
There is absolutley NO strategic value with taking those bases, so my question is WHY? Ive heard "because its fun", "because its fun" or the god worst of em all  "Well they do it"

Have respect for others,, the game should be enjoyed by everyone  :salute
