HTC should paint big red roundels on the spit V since its masquerading as an a6m5 with the speed of a spit 9
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

Ever compare the wing loading and power loading of the Spit V and the A6M5?

Pyro said the speed thing was instrument error.

Do you wan't to know where that 'instrument error' belongs in my honest opinion?

I've kept running from Spit 9's in 5!
spit 5 climbs like 9 and also behaves alot better at slow speeds.

So.. 'instrument error' my...

yep them spits can turn all nite and all day!

watch me own cit's 202 in the new Med   http://plaza.ufl.edu/shamblin/spit5vs202.ahf

'course this kinda fits right in with niklas' sustained turn thread in AC and Vehicles forum.

I'll defer to funked if he says spit performance is pretty accurate, but dang those things are scary in a 1 on 1.

It would be interesting to rerun that Flying Circus scenario from a few weeks ago (spit5s and 9s against 109Fs and 190As).

One reason spitV and spit9 speed is so close in AH is becuase we have the weakest spit9 variant, or am I wrong ?

Actually Suave, we are suppose to have the F varient (mid-alt) of the Spit IX, which was the most common (to my understanding).

However if you look at aircraft speed at altitude, and critical altitude, you will find that our Spit IX actually matches the HF varient, the fastest of all Spit IX's. Climb rate still matches the F varient however.

(Unless this whole thing was corrected in patch 2).

Going on memory here...
LF was the most common varient.
HF and F were produced in rather small numbers ( couple hundereds )

LF was a monster down low.
Climbrate in 5000 fpm range. Speed of almost 340 mph on the deck.. turn and all...
350+ at 5k.
Good all the way up to 20k or so..

HF was almost pretty bad. Almost as fast down low as LF. Climbrate to make 20k in LESS THEN 5 minutes !!!

-------------------------------------------

F was nothing more then Airframe of spit 5 with better engine in it.

I'm baffeled as to what we have in AH. Climbrate is too slow for either HF or LF, while some people reported it as being faster then it should. ( don't know about it myself.. i always get run down by everyhint with exception of zeke )

Once Pyro posts the stats we will know more

Here is a good link for spitfire's stats.  http://www.fourthfightergroup.com/eagles/spittest.html

When people send Pyro data, I think he just averages it out to the best of his ability. Not sure if we have any one variant or a cross breed of several leaving us with a mutt.

Well, I am inclined to believe that the either 1 of 2 things.

1) The V is a tad too good

2) the IX is not good enuff.

Now I am not the expert on statistics and historical numbers like Bart and Funked, Verm too. But for a fact I set my V last night in autoclimb and was pulling away from weazel's IX. Also tangled with Citabria in his IX last night in the MEd. we went merge at 20K and I seemed to stay above him fairly easy. I simply went into a lazy turning climb while he went under and immeled. It "seemed" to me that it wasa  little easy to stay above him till he finally dove away--then I just followed ( and caught!) him and removed his wing. I "thought that teh IX was a better climber at those altitudes? I expect to turn inside a Ix,  I think cit is overexagerating about it being equal to the zeke though. No way it will turn with it. When in the TA doing training I fly the zeke alot. I can get inside a spitV easily.

just my thoughts

With the new FM there will be planes needing "refined". I`m sure if it`s off HTC will fix it ASAP,hopefully the n1k2 and P47d30 will be looked at as well.

I've never posted these as I've wanted to revise some small details in the wep climb regarding the supercharger changes, but haven't gotten around to it.

That was a lame thing to post Pyro. Now the luftwobbles can't make that stupid argument anymore

Bart they can't model the LF or HF because the whining would cause the UBB server to implode.
