Email software emulating GMail

Hello all,

recently I've been disturbed by GMail's privacy policy and decided to dump my account with them. However, the one thing I miss the most is the clean, easy interface. Eye candy aside, GMail used a system which I'm seeking in email software. The system combines emails into "conversations." For instance, if I send an email to someone and the recipient responds, the reply is placed within the email I sent. If I choose to reply to the recipient's message I just received, my message will be placed with the original message. Therefore all messages exchanged between the recipient and me are visible by opening a single conversation, not individual messages. As far as I can tell, conversations were title-specific. So all conversations having a specific title would be placed in the conversation.

Does anyone know of any email software which resembles GMail (especially the conversation feature)? It would make my life much much easier.

Well, I found a solution to my problem. Using the Evolution Mail Client for Linux, I went to View -> Group by Threads. This enabled the conversation feature I was discussing.

However, should anyone run across an email client emulating GMail features and accessories, please let me know. I'm in eye-candy withdrawal.

The newest version of Outlook (2010 Beta) does that as does Windows Live Mail...I forget which option I did for that in Live Mail though.

Sounds good. Perhaps thunderbird will follow behind very closely. (Using Linux)

I bailed on Tbird a few years ago because it wouldn't function with my software at work for sending out attachments and that sort of stuff.

Yeah, Outlook 2010 does that by default.

When you say you dumped Gmail, did you go to another email provider?

I like that Gmail supports IMAP, and that's why I went to it a while back.

I'm not aware of their privacy policy, but I work for the government, and I'm used to every single email being public record if somebody requests it.  So basically, I use encryption to send anything sensitive.

Yes, I went with a different provider. I'll look into outlook 2010, yet not a huge fan of microsoft products.
