No need.  The auto ack at the fields is quite effective.  If you made mannable guns that were portable, you'd simply end up with a collection of tards spoiling perfectly good air to air fighting.

The mannable guns could be made to where they were not able to go to "no man's land" in the center.  Therefore, the good fights could be at the center (which I think they are, because the center is usually where everyone meets up for 1v1s, 2v2s, etc..)

That's rather inconsiderate of you...  From your standpoint it is just fine to screw up the furball, because the 1vs1 etc action that you prefer is in the center of the map.

Anti Aircraft Artillery had exactly one strategic purpose...  Defending ground targets from air attack.  Until there are ground targets in need of such a defense, adding the guns is silly and will do nothing but screw the air fights.

Besides, what do you think is going to happen to all of the 1vs1 etc action when you put guns on the ground and force the furball to the center of the map?  Where are you going to find your 1vs1s etc then?  It seems to me that these guns will spoil the very fights that you like, which seem to have a nice home in the center with the current set up...

Again I say -1...

I'll disagree with you there P, anything to discourage the dizzying round and round furballing on the deck is fine with me. You can have several multi-tiered fights going on within the same sector and make the fights much more interesting.

I see you're one of the unskilled hord masses that rely on fellow lemmings to get a kill.  So sad.

Why do so many people want to screw up a good thing?

This is what I think. The one trick ponies can't cut it in there so they want a way to get payback on the people that work to attain some knowledge of BFM, and ACM.  :O

I thoroughly enjoy WW1 the way it is. If you want a pure dogfight, be it a 1v1, 2v2, 1v2, or a boiling, churning furball you can find it there. If you want a chance to come out the victor when three bad guys jump you WW1 is it. WW1 doesn't need manned ack for those that can't tell the difference from a yo-yo to an immelmann. The auto ack does a good job of protecting the airfield, and that's all that's really need.

If you are having a hard time fighting in WW1 maybe you're not as uber as you thought, and you might want to think about leaning some ACM.    :aok

I have yet to see where an mannable AA gun has screwed up a furball any time in the past?  With the technologies available at the time, I don't see how AA guns will affect any furball.  I do see how it will add another immersion to the game.

If the furball just so happened to move to the center of the map (which I doubt would happen because of the longer flight time and the inability of most to even want to 1v1 or so), the 1v1s and such could move to the opposite side of the base on the outside of the map.  I still don't see any game changing.

Also, I never said I was in favor of adding the mannable guns themselves.  I was just throwing out possibilities.  :joystick:

Heheh well myth busters may THINK it is solved but the controversy rages on, and I vote no on manable ack guns till there are bombers in the game to take them out.
