Yeah... I liked how the pilot showed off the 190's roll rate and directional agility compared to typical war bird airshow routines.

My favorite war bird: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQxb-V-rZqA

Has a nice sound to it too, when it finally gets going. ;)

It is.

Then WW2 190s sounded different than that. The Flugwerk  one has a Russian made engine and not the BMW engine.

yep....while i love seeing that old iron in the air, they seem to do the same things over and over.......and i do understand how much money they have wrapped up in them too.

the last time i was at the reading airshow, the p40's the hurricane, the mustangs, all did not much more than high speed passes, with a couple of big fat victory rolls at the end.

then the guy came up in the yak 9.

holy crap!! that dude flew that airplane as if the entire luftwaffe was on his tail.  :D

I do wonder how hard they push the old warbirds in air show exhibitions.  I have a feeling they aren't pushing their maneuverability anymore than they are pushing the engines.

according to the owner of the flying club i'm in, the insurance limits what they can do a lot.

there's probably someone here that can enlighten us on that better than me though.....

The farthest I've seen a warbird pushed at an airshow is this Corsair video someone posted a while back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp-YrzjdExs Great sound too.

Those Griffon Spits have some awesome throaty goodness.
