FSO: Greece 1941 - Scoring Results all 3 frames
« on: April 02, 2010, 12:49:04 PM »
Gentlemen,

Thank you for participating in this FSO and suffering issues with the SEA host code with good graces. Here is the total score for the event. I am giving it two ways. Which is frame 1 and 3 combined and also frame 1, 2, and 3. I know there were issues with frame 2 but both sides faced the same issues of reduced player turnout and inconsistent squad turnout in that frame that affect each sides battle plan do to us deciding to go ahead and host the frame that friday with little advance notice to the squads to help diagnose a host code problem.

Frame 1 & 3
5765 = Axis
5175 = Allies

Frame 1, 2,  & 3
8695 = Axis
7647 = Allies

Individual comments, stats, and frame breaks out to follow.

FRAME 3
======

Turnout rebounded for frame 3 and both sides had almost equal numbers. Again in the air war the allies held their own scoring 1060 points to the Axis 1020. However the Axis were again more successful in bombing than the allies destroying 66.6% of their targets versus the allies only destroying 55.5% of their targets.

On the Ground the Allies blunted the Italian drive in the west.  The Greeks and British also held their own in the Aegean and along Greece Eastern coast.  However, the Germans closed the corridor the British were trying to hold open in the North between their lines and the Yugoslav forces in Southern Yugoslavia (A39 100% destroyed). A parallel thrust also hammered the middle of the Greek British defensive line in central Greece (A112 98.7% destroyed) and threatens to split the Allied forces in two.

Yugoslav forces in the north in a ferocious battle once again fought the Germans and Bulgarians almost to a draw (Axis base A127 97% destroyed, while Yugoslav base A58 100% destroyed). However, they have been cut off from the British and Greeks to the south and in light of their losses the Yugoslav government has decided to surrender to the Germans.

British and Greek forces have decided to withdraw towards Athens and have started to put in place an evacuation plan to withdraw their forces to the island of Crete.

Here are the stats for frame 3.

Axis (252 pilots)
55.2% of Axis Fighters lost (194 deployed)
48.3% of Axis Bombers lost (58 deployed)
66.6% of Axis Ground facilities destroyed

Allies (249 pilots)
42.6% of Allied Fighters lost (183 deployed)
63.6% of Allied Bombers lost (42 deployed)
55.5% of Allied Ground facilities destroyed

Allied Air to Air Kills
33 - Bf 109-E4s (killed 55.9% of those deployed ... 59 deployed)
35 - Bf 110C-4bs (killed 77.8% of those deployed ... 45 deployed)
39 - I-16s (killed 43.3% of those deployed ...  90 deployed)
7 -Ju 87D-3 (killed 63.6% of those deployed ...  11 deployed)
21 - Ju 88A-4 (killed 44.7% of those deployed ...  47 deployed)

Allied Friendly Fire Deaths
1 - P40B

Allied Bombing Results
Target A113 - 64.7% destroyed (Eastern Front - Aegean)
Target A114 - 32.5% destroyed (Eastern Front - Aegean)
Target A127 - 97% destroyed (Bulgaria - Yugoslavia)
Target A36 - 72.7% destroyed (Italian Front - Western Greece)
Target A40 - 46.9% destroyed (Italian Front - Western Greece)
Target A45 - 19.5% destroyed (Eastern Front)

Note: Remember Axis forces get the points for undestroyed targets as defense points.

Allied Penalty
There was an incident that happened at A113 where Allied B25Cs loaded out with the hard nose and semi-hardnose strafer gun packages and strafed objects at A113. After examining the logs I have determined that 6 B25Cs out of 7 assigned to hit A113 loaded out with strafer gun packages. This was not an intentional violation of the rules (they did not go "we were told to load out with the glass nose but the heck with that we are taking the strafer package") since the CiC did not specifically tell them not to do this. Although it was noted in the objectives sent to all command staff that only B25Cs with glass noses were available at allied airfields. Again I can understand that this can be missed by players involved and I am sure was not an intentional action meant to violate the rules. However, it still violated the rules and a penalty must be assessed. The penalty is half the value of the planes involved plus the nullification of any object recorded as destroyed by bullets at A113. Total penalty is 92 points.

Axis Air to Air Kills
23 - B-25C (killed 52.3% of those deployed ... 44 deployed)
21 - Bf 109E-4 (killed 91.3% of those deployed ... 23 deployed)
16 - Brewster B-239 (killed 19.5% of those deployed ... 82 deployed)
16- Hurricane Mk I (killed 51.6% of those deployed ... 31 deployed)
19 - Ju 88A-4 (killed 86.4% of those deployed ... 22 deployed)
25 - P40Bs (killed 54.3% of those deployed ... 46 deployed)

Axis Bombing Results
Target A109 - 53.6% destroyed (Western Front)
Target A111 - 29.1% destroyed (Eastern Front)
Target A112 - 98.7% destroyed (Central Front)
Target A32 - 18% destroyed (Eastern Front)
Target A39 - 100% destroyed (Northern Greece)
Target A58 - 100% destroyed (Yugosalvia)

Note: Remember Allied forces get the points for undestroyed targets as defense points.

FRAME 2
======

Obviously frame 2 was a bit different from frame 1 since we decided to run it at the last minute in the hopes of diagnosing a server issue. The allies suffered a 25 pilot drop do to this compared to their frame 1 turnout while the Axis suffered a 41 pilot drop. However, both sides equally faced the same challenges and conditions so in light of this the results were used to determine the battle lines for frame 3.

Oh, and obviously no min / max rule violations on plane types of min / max on squad commitment level numbers were assessed.
Overall the Allies seemed to find their footing in the air war and actually slightly edged out the Axis in air to air kill points (760 to 745). However, the Axis proved much more successful in bombing their targets destroying 80.1% of their assigned targets versus the Allies destroying only 67.9% of their targets.

Basically the southern Yugoslav forces fought the Germans and Bulgarians to a draw in the north. However, the rest of their country fell and Belgrade was put under siege. The British and Greeks withdrew under pressure from the Aliakmon in the east and tried to setup a new defensive line in central Greece. Except that they tried to keep a corridor open in the north to Yugoslavia in the hope to entice the Southern Yugoslav forces not to surrender but to instead retreat into Greece and link up with them to continue the fight.  In the West the fighting was fierce but the Italians made modest gains against determined Greek / British defenders.
Here are the stats for frame 2.

Axis (208 pilots)
40.1% of Axis Fighters lost (147 deployed)
54.1% of Axis Bombers lost (61 deployed)
67.9% of Axis Ground facilities destroyed

FRAME 1
======

The results of the fighting of this frame was inconsistent on both sides with both hitting some targets very hard and others only slightly. The Allies did slightly better bombing their targets than the Axis did. However, they suffered heavy air to air losses which gave the frame to the Axis.

On the ground the Italians made slight gains in the west, advancing about 10 miles out of Albania along the coast.  Southern Yugoslav forces held out against a concerted Bulgarian and German offensive but withdrew under pressure toward the Greek border. While the Germans outflanked the Metaxas line in Eastern Greece causing the Greek and British forces to fall back to the Aliakmon line so as not to get encircled and separate from allied forces in the west.

Here are the stats for frame 1.

Axis (259 pilots)
