The Warthog stomp
« on: April 27, 2010, 12:32:26 AM »
Was flying with another guy in Flaming Cliffs 2, when a guy was taunting us in an F-15. I was a mile ahead of my wingman when I saw a glint behind him.

pulled a 180, sent 2 Aim-9s and a bunch of GAU-8 downrange

How many players online at any given time?  That looks cool,  you may get another one.

No, they'll still be trying to milk the current engine from the 90s for all it's worth even in 10 years time.

Well if my Radeon 9700 Pro doesn't work on the game any more, I'll have to quit, and then they won't get my money

Yes lets all stay back in the 90s just because you can't afford $200 for a decent graphics card.

I'm sure for every one they lose because they have a card dated from 2002 they would get 10 or maybe even 100 more in return if the graphics were of a much higher level. Anyone I try to introduce this to in past, look at graphics and immediately think it's a joke.

The reasoning for keeping AH graphics at a low spec because of low end users is weak. If they ran a poll im sure most wouldn't have graphics cards more then a couple years old.

You gotta love that.

In that last clip was that comms from ingame? If so that sounded like crud and was hard to listen to but must be close to realistic.

The comms was grabbed from one of the Call of Duty modern warfare 2 levels - tried an experiment with fraps having it run at the same time:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jYlmIJpPWk

Keeping the graphics at 'low spec' as you describe is done more for the download footprint of the game more than anything else.

Download footprint of the game? 175mb!!!  You have to be kidding me.   :rofl

That's even a weaker excuse then the graphics card debate itself. Download size might of been a concern in the 80s with 2,400 baud modems.. But using that as a reason today where ADSL and faster is the norm is absolutely ridiculous.

Other then for a few throw backs out in the desert I doubt there are many today even in this community still on dialup.
