Film Viewer Improvements?
« on: April 28, 2010, 03:37:18 PM »
The Film Viewer is an amazing tool, but i was wondering if anyone else would like to see it improved?

The things i would really like to see done include, Making the viewer less glitchy (i crash it 20+ times when making videos).

When creating a camera position it would be great if after you run the shot you could move the camera position from the spot you placed it (not have to redo the entire shot and guess).

Have a 1-2 second after death targeting system, (what i mean is if you put the camera on a baddie you kill once hes dead the camera stops, so if you could set up a flyby where the camera targets the baddie he flies by and you have a 1-2 second delay allowing you to see his explosion would be great).

Another thing is that if you set up a camera shot at anytime beyond 00:01 the audio track resets to the beggining (some of my films I'd like to incorporate the Vox chatter, this makes it almost impossible, also having the engine start sound when your BnZing a baddie kinda sux too lol)

The last thing i would absolutely love to see is a in cockpit targeting camera like is in the game, so you can target an enemy plane from the cockpit.

Maybe i'm just being a whiner, then again maybe you guys have some things you'd like to see. Regardless I love the viewer its an amazing tool, but i would love for it to be a bit more polished.

Thanks DEEMAN <S>

I have to agree. Apparently if I have a film open, and save the first shot all is well. But I have to close and reopen the program for each additional shot i want to save. If I don't do that after I save the second shot I go back to watch it and all I see is the camera pointing at the airfield or some random canyon.

Some of the crashes you may be experiencing may be due to updates and older films. Skuzzy stated in a bug post there is an issue with older films and missing graphic files which makes sense. Then again if you do alot of editing and such, it uses alot of your system resources, which could also be some of the issues.  I agree that the camera shot set-up could definately be more user friendly. BTW couple of good tutorials on this site : http://www.derstuhl.net/ahmd2/   :salute

It's been a while for me, but I remember just clicking a button for a new shot.  I'd name it, and keep doing that for all the shots for that film.  I never had to quit the viewer just to get a new shot.  When I save the shots, they all save and I can open them later just fine.

Thanks for responding guys, the crashes are not the biggest or most important thing to me. It's the other things that i would be interested in seeing improved. Is there anything you guys can think of i might have missed?

I have noticed that after some update it is not possible to use the hatswitch to look around in the films anymore, it used to be possible before.
Maybe not something important for you film makers, but for me who like to watch through the films for learning progress reasons I really miss that feature of 'free view' while watching the films..

Hope they fix that and also they fix that there's gun sounds from your own plane when you shoot
