No icon wish
« on: May 01, 2010, 08:04:41 PM »
This wish is for AvA and SEA.

I wish that the icons on GVs would be able to be turned off to Aircraft. It would help in many situations in AvA,FSO, Scenarios, or any other event that may use GVs.

Thanks!

The problem is that computer games cannot simulate what the eye can see from a plane yet, so that NO icons for armour amounts to a "free" pass that the real tankers didnot enjoy.  I could go along with a lesser vis range but I think they do that now???

He knows this. He has been told this. He has had this proven to him countless times. He has had Hitech himself come down from HTC and reply in another thread on the subject "It's not going to happen" and still he keeps harping on his same flawed request.

Oh hear we go again...the request is to have the ability to have the same icon capabilities regarding ground vehicles as what is available to aircraft. NOTHING ELSE.

You two might want to go consult with the U.S. Army, U.S. Airforce and NASA as to what can be simulated on a computer screen...they have been disagreeing with you for the last 5 years.

I don't remember making this request krusty, enlighten me where I have made this request before, please.

I am wondering if you mis understood the wish, I think tanks already get many free passes to aircraft loaded with bombs with large Neon Signs on it.

Hmmm are you asking for the ability to turn off icons AFTER you have spotted the vehicle?? because I certainly read it as an ability for CM's to turn off icons for an event?

Get the U.S. Army, NASA and whoever else you know to give HTC the technology Gyrene, just because some esoteric regime exists out there somewhere DOESN'T put it into this game/sim

The technology exists in the retail gaming market, HTC just doesn't use any of it. What exactly does that have to do with the price of rice in China? You stated
computer games cannot simulate what the eye can see from a plane yet

I said those government agencies would disagree with you...has nothing to do with HTC. If you had simply stated that AH cannot simulate what the eye can see from a plane I would not have disagreed with you.

No. Go back and read it carefully. He simply wants to have the ability to turn icons off for vehicles. Just like we can now do with airplanes. Period, end of request.

You know exactly what it has to do with price of rice in China, all comments by me are about HTC's product while yours are all over the place and not Jermain to this game.  I could care less if NASA has better graphics program, you are simply citing things for an argument that have ZERO to do with HTC.

Sheez Spikes we have TWO ways to turn off icons presently individually and forced on the group by a CM, if he is asking for a "forced" no icon situation then I am opposed to it, end of story.

AvA already runs under a no icon system, but it would make a difference if CMs could be able to turn off icons for GVs, it would make bombing them a lot harder, spotting even harder. It would, IMO, be something the GVers would love.

Not harder, impossible which leads me back to my first answer.  I of course will not play in the AvA now that they have gone no icons since I think it just gives an unfair advantage to some and I being in the older lesser eyesite group have it tough enough WITH icons.  I fly FSO and if they go no icons I will not be flying that either.  Hence my no vote to this idea.

A select few GV griefers cry their hearts out if any airplane so much as spots them for enemy tanks. They won't be happy until they have invisibility cloaks, until every player spawning has a 60-second pilot blackout giving them more time to aim and kill them as they spawncamp.

How does that work? If a player chooses to use a 15 inch screen that is no one's problem but his...has nothing to do with fair/unfair. I don't have the best eyesight myself...I compensate with a large monitor less than 3 feet from my face and lower resolution settings.

There is no mention of HTC anywhere...just another one of your generalizations based on your limited knowledge...give it a rest.
