mission commander icon
« on: May 12, 2010, 02:14:06 PM »
OK this isn't as much of a wish as an idea.  Actually two separate ideas:

First, how about having the icon of the mission creator (in MA obviously) be a different icon color (kinda like the .wingman command).  This way it would be easier for others in the mission to keep up with him.  When there are 10 -15 aircraft in a mission and the CO is in the middle of a tight formation it becomes tough to differentiate as wo where he is.

Second and along the same lines.  Give the mission creater the power to set icon colors based upon aircraft types.  Example:  the goons could be blue and be easy to spot without going to Alt I to see aircraft type and the 110's green and so on and so forth.

Thanks for listening and that is all.

Uh...the colors of the icons are controlled by you on your computer. You did know that right?  :headscratch:

Now if you wanted a choice in that menu for "mission commander" so you can choose a color, that's another story and a decent idea. Not sure whether it would be a good idea to try and push plane types into that menu as well...but hey if it can be done.

Use the .wingman command to mark the mission commander.

Just remember to un-wingman them when you are done.

Like I said it's just an idea. (i've got time on my hands while waiting for the debugging of 2.19).

I am aware that I can change icon colors in game.  The idea was for the mission commander to automatically be a different color.  Mission aircraft are already a separate color much like those that are on the same vox are.  Once mission is over, ie. when you re-up the color goes back to the original green.

Lots of times in a mission I will use the .wingman command for my actual wingman.  Maybe an easy addition would be another dot command for the commander.  Something like .commander [callsign] or something similar.

Thanks for the feedback though.  <S> gyrene81 and wrongway

Most mission commanders that I know will delegate to a couple of people in the mission.  somebody will be in charge of the goons, buffs, fiters etc.  of course if there's 30 or 40 people in mission and if they all lump together then it becomes fubar and u cant tell the buffs from the goons, so having just the commander highlited sometimes does no good.
