High Resolution Textures Question
« on: May 14, 2010, 12:18:25 PM »
Greets,

I'm fairly new to AH (Just been here a couple weeks now) and I was just a little confused about the use of the High Resolution Textures.

Before I ever started AH the first time I downloaded the High Res textures from the website, double clicked on the file, and installed them right after installing the base game.

I was wondering how I could tell whether they are active and working?  Is there any sort of indicator or option to look for in the game that would tell me that I have installed them correctly?  Do I need to do anything after they are installed to turn them on?

I never saw what the game looked like before I installed the High Res textures so I don't have a frame of reference to know if they are working or not.

Thanks!

You will only see a difference if you choose 1024 texture size in your options.  There's a post or two here somewhere that shows screenshots of the difference between standard and hires textures.  I'm sure someone will post a link if you don't find it on your own.

In order to really have any benefit at using 1024 textures, you need to be running 1280x1024 resolution, at the minimum.

hope this helps

the cockpit radio in british aircraft is a good hint, if you can read the channel numbers easily then hires is working, if they look pixelated and hard to read, the hires tex are not implemented. best I can do :)

Thanks!

I checked the video setup as the screenshots depicted on the video setup launch screen and I do indeed have it set to 1024 so I'm guessing that I do indeed have the high res textures.

Thanks for the help :)

There are only two types of aircraft — fighters and targets

It depends on your computer specs.  My computer is running 1900x1200 with all graphics (except shadows) maxxed out and I get a solid 60fps.  Post your specs or a DXDIAG and the smart people will give your suggestions.

Offline, there's a setting to multiply your ammo.  I have mine set to something like 10x.
