Monitor bug
« on: August 23, 2001, 01:03:00 PM »
Before we start, sys specs:

Athlon 1gig
Geforce2
AST 7L monitor.

Every time I start AH, the new hardware wizard adds a new, unknown monitor to my system. I delete it, install the correct monitor, or, update the driver for the unknown monitor to the correct version (using stock windows drivers) and delete the copy, log on again and bingo....new hardware found again.

Any clues?

Make sure windows is only seeing 1 monitor on your system.

I used to run into problems like this back in the day, when it would see 2 netowrk cards or something stupid.

Other than that, I'm at a loss.

Thanks, but that's the whole point.

I have only one monitor, correctly identified as to make and model in device manager, right up until the moment I start AH.

then I get another one...

This is merely a thought off the cuff Seeker but is your AH resolution set different to your desktop - e.g. desktop 1280x1024 and AH set at 1024X768.  Wondering if maybe when it switches to AH it is trying to select a resolution which is not supported by your driver and so windows tries to install a new driver.  Is the monitor driver you have the latest version??
Hmmmmmm - tricky one
