Forward position/base
« on: June 23, 2010, 06:36:22 AM »
Wouldn't it be great if a C-47/M3/etc could drop and outpost that spawns vehicles?
would take about 5 min to become fully functional and doesn't appear on enemy radar?
the base would stay there for about 40 min
have 4 ack including a man gun
has 2  Vehicle hangers
and once a building/ack is down it stays down

I think this would be a great addtion to aces high

Thoughts?

I had the same idea. Have some bamboo FH dirt runways no more then 3 acks of 20mm and/or 40mm. Give the game a spice of something fun and new. Like landing planes that are damaged. Maybe have runways that are abandoned and nonoperational, for the purpose of having rearm and emergency landing. Still the basic same idea. +1

Basic FARP concept, Forward Air Refuel/rearm Point.

I like it better for vehicles than I do for Aircraft.
I think the only way it would work for Aircraft is if it was just a rearm/refuel point.

But you wouldn't have any heavy construction equipment there to level out the ground for a runway.
So you should have to take your chances dodging trees and bushes. With about a 50% chance of crashing and being forced to take a ditch.

Also it should be able to be supplied by C-47, which would extend its life.

I like that idea to. Long as it doesn't show up on the map when you look at it.

You know it can't be nothing to big. It should be able to be leveled pretty easy. Having that disadvantage it shouldn't be visible on the map. Unless maybe somebody finds it.

I suppose this is really like establishing a foward spawn point.

I suppose the mechanism could be that if sufficient supplies were dropped in one area (3 x field supplies?) then a vehicle spawn point is created from the nearest base.

since it takes 5/6? resupply runs to fully resupply a field, would make sense to take at least 5/6 drops to establish it.

having said that our bases are so close together I dont really see a need ...

I think the idea of the OP was to establish such a thing deep within enemy lines

Nice idea.
Should be invisible on the map until spotted by the enemy.
Sure HT could come up with a set of parameters to cover 'base spotted'.
Under
  • alt, within
  • range, looking right way etc.

Should have limited stocks, and must be re-supplied to replenish the stocks.

Once captured it disappears.
