Even though it was 37 degrees and raining when I hit the launch (weathermen called for 0% chance of precipitation), I got out bass fishing for the first time yesterday.

Did ok, little over 20 bass in about 4-5 hours.  Caught them on KVD jerkbait and a Red Eye Shad.  Although I lost the brand new Red eye Shad, 2 casts after catching a baby pike.  Got to watch it fly away as my line broke on a cast.  Damn pike must of partially severed it.     Have to remind myself to retie after catching those buggers.

This one was the biggest of the day.  It's not very big, but I was fishing Honeoye Lake (one of the Finger Lakes) which is known for lots of fish but not many with size.  After a long winter I just wanted to catch 'em.   :)

10 day forecast looking pretty crappy not sure when I'll get out again.  Come on it's almost freaking May!  :bhead

I am accepting a nice invite from one of your fish-x-perts to join the thread....

Sadly....I have no pictures of 50 lb stripers or Red Snapper.  My recent trip to Dog Island FL was so stormy 6 of 7 days I only got a very short afternoon on the beach.  No bites.  Seas were very rough most of teh week and 8-10 ' waves on a few days.  Poured buckets and there was a ton of fresh water in the sound/bay side.  I will have to be envious of your efforts until I can get out on Lake Hamilton or Lake Ouichita....and then wait til next year for another salt water forray.

Please keep the pics and stories coming!!  I have enjoyed every one of them!

MrGeezer:

once upon a time I used to dream of going to Clarion Island and putting a cow-tuna on my resume. I guess I still do sometimes, but these days just being able to hop on a boat a couple of times a year out of San Diego I'm grateful for, I usually go with just one buddy anymore and all we used to do was discuss what/how we were going catch 'em. These days while rigging up the nite before we discuss what's new in life and very little about fishing - seems like we've figured out how to actually enjoy it.

Don't get me wrong I love the experience and fight of a big game fish, but I find peace of mind out there at 120+nm in Mexican waters, away from cell phones and email...

So here's to your next fish gents   don't forget to smell (look) at the roses

As a disabled person, I live vicariously through your all posts and photos!!

PLEASE keep both coming!!  Also, your ideas/comments/advice on freshwater attractant/spinner baits/ lures are most appreciated.

THANK YOU all!  Please keep those posts and advice coming!!  I doubt I am the only one who can learn from them!!
