I'm happy to report that the buddy of mine who sold his bass boat two years ago (he didn't care if I threw a fit  :cry) has bought another!    :rock

All my bass rods are rejoicing!

2 or 3 times a year we used to drive like Hell and then go out on this head boat http://www.carolinaprincess.com/

Boy that Capt. knew his stuff. About 2 hours motoring out to the grounds, he'd sound the horn, and we'd all go running out jigging. We'd come home with coolers of ocean fish. Grouper, sea bass, snapper, porgie, and occasionally a big jack or shark would be hooked. There was no limit on anything back then and Im kinda surprised the snapper numbers are so down theres only a 3 day season on them, one a day.

Good times. I love being on the ocean.

Very cool Jimmy . I got a boat , lol . Wish I could get there .

@ Rich ,  I know what you mean . After the limit was put on a lot of the ocean fish . I have not been back to the ocean because of that . I'm not going to spend a ton of money to go out and catch 2 Red snapper .
It put a end to my salt water fishing .

Biggest fish I ever caught was this beauty, a northern pike, length of almost 4 feet and weighed in at 36.5 pounds :)

I was pulling in my line after a pretty lengthy cast towards the shore, as I was getting close to the boat I thought I had a bite, but no fight followed, as I got the line closer to the boat I could swear I grabbed a ton of weeds as the line was heavy. just as I get the leader to the surface I see this huge fish on the line and then bam it takes off like a drag car. my line spooled out so fast I could swear it was going to break, just as the line started to draw to the end I got the fish slowed down, soon after I had her coming back towards the boat. now my friend Jeff said it was a good 45 minute fight before I finally got her near the boat and the net was too small, he had to reach out and pull it in. I will tell you I was grinning from ear to ear adrenaline pumping :D

No.  Can't afford the boat I want so I just don't even look now.   :rofl

Old fishing buddy picked me up by buying another one after he sold his other one in the middle of the night (literally) two years ago.

I still had plenty of streams to fish, but have been a very bad and lazy fisherman since I couldn't get on the lake.   :(

My last rig. 22' of rolling death rigged for everything from crappie and gills to Great Lakes Salmon and Trout. I had a 120 Ev with a 15 HP kicker, two electrics one front one rear, had an Impulse LCD and two flashers, a LORAN "this before GPS", 4 Walker riggers "2 electric", and I had this slick device that would tell me water tempt and lure speed down at the riggers ball. It almost wasnt fair for the fish.

I was active in numerous Walleye, Salmon, Muskie clubs. I was one of the first to start using planer boards for trolling. I developed a method for using them at night, putting a chemical night stick in a drilled hole on top of them and trolling at night for big walleye on edges of cabbage beds. It seemed I was on the road all the time, going from one tournament or trip to another. I fished the northern tier quite a bit until I made a trip to Arkansas and from then on couldnt get enough of southern fishing.

Thing about the south is EVERYTHING gets big. The crappies get so big they dont even look like crappies. But Gills, Cats, Bass, smallies, stripers, wipers. You should have seen the looks on the Locals in their Bass boats when they saw this 22' V-Hull rolling by with 12 rods hanging off it trolling small plugs on boards for crappies. But we caught buckets of the things. The South is where its at.

They are well worth it. I had some material that told exactly how deep, at what speed, individual lures go with a certain amount of line out. Im sure its still available.  I used line counter reels for trolling individual baits, for dipsys and slide divers, also with wire line. I'd remove front trebels from body baits and I'd be able to just nick the top of weed line edges with the lure, without it hanging up
. Ive even ran dipsy/slide divers off of downrigger cables for extra depth.

One thing I learned is with a 3 trebel bait you never catch squat with the front trebel but weeds.

Nice set up . I like very much .
