Hows this for a catch while surf fishing. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=e03_1376299337

Best of all the guy let it go. http://news.sky.com/story/1127459/massive-tiger-shark-caught-on-texas-beach Taking Blues, Reds, crappies...ect is one thing. But killing just to brag is another. I dont kill trophy sport fish anymore and havnt for years. Some, like Muskie, I dont kill at all. They all go back, as do big female spawners. Theres plenty of cats, crappie, bream, perch, reds, blues, as well as stocked non-spawners...ect around for eating.

Yeah I cut my outlaw way's loss around 1990 . Started doing the right thing but this lake I fish in is a flood control lake and one should be able to keep all the fish they catch because the fish are flushed down the MS river every year . The state tag some crappie in the lake and all but 6 of them went down the river never to be seen again .

Had a day on Lake Perris with Pete Marino - who, by the way, is the most patient nice guy.

Wife and I arrived early at the lake, being up in the desert, we took a relaxed drive down - smack talking each other about who was going to catch the most, biggest etc, you know the score. Met up with Pete, who already had his boat in the water.

Got out on the lake, Pete had me throwing a top water bait (first time I've done this) - getting the action right was initially a bit of a challenge, but once I got it right, the tick tick sound had me mesmerized lol - Pete had a couple of big boils round his, but the fish didn't take it. Wife was throwing a plastic, nothing taking that either. We moved up to the dam, where we were all throwing worms - Laura (wife) hooked up with a bass, then another, then Pete hooked up with a couple. The words were uttered "we're not moving until you've caught 5" - my reply? "we may be here sometime then lol...."

Hooked up with more rocks by over casting - once I got that sorted, finangled a couple out - so the score at that time was Pete 2, Laura 2, the english numpty 2.

Moved over to the canyon - the fish on the finder showed a huge amount - they would follow the bait down (we're all fishing the drop shot here) - but not one of the buggers would take it. We kept at it, no joy, but I learnt a lot about reading a fish finder, and moving a boat around where the fish are.

Then we moved to the tires - Pete hooked up with something big, but it stuck its head under a tire and refused to show itself - Laura then hooked up with the biggest fish of the day 3lb and a couple of ounces - wtg birthday girl (one of the reasons I booked the trip).

We moved again, back up to the dam, where Pete hooked up with a bass - which made the score Pete 3, Laura 3, english numpty 2.

Right at the end of the trip, I managed to hook up with a feisty little bass - rounding out the score lol.........

Things I learnt today, how to fish a top water bait, drop shot rigging and fishing (not done this before either), reading a fish finder, and boat handling.

Overall, had a great day, fish were finicky, all the bites were very gentle. Pete did exactly what he said he was going to do, put us on fish - think the amount of bait in the water had them preoccupied stuffing their faces with shad. Bit of a tough day bite wise, but, that's fishing, If it was easy, all the time, it wouldn't be so much fun when they do go mad for baits.

Was a nice day, best 2 bits - wife caught the biggest fish, and agreed I now need a boat lol.........she doesn't want me to buy a second user boat however, so we slid over to the bass pro shop for a couple of hours (grabbed a couple of bait casters while I was there) and took a look at the new boats there. There are a couple of bass tracker boats we really really liked, and the cost wasn't extortionate (15k out the door kinda deal). As we don't use credit, we're looking at buying one around January time (50th birthday pressie kinda deal).

As and when I get it, I'll post pics - looking at the 17ft ones for reference.

You don't eat Bream do you?  We call them "bibblers" here, total bottom feeders that will eat anything.  Nothing but bones too.  Salt water Bream?

Here a popular local song about Bream.  lol

Bluegils are fresh water fish, maybe that is the difference.

YEPPERS!!!  dad and i would go out and target big bull bluegills, bring them home, filet them and you get a huge fishstick off each side.....get  a stringer of 50 and some fries....maybe a little cole slaw ..bread and deep fry the fish.....couple cold ones and you have a meal fit for a king  :aok

Another way you can do bluegills to get more meat off them or if you're catching smaller fish is to scale them, gut them and lop off the heads and fins.  Fry them whole and you can just sort of split them apart off the bone but you still have to be careful.  Was about the only way my grandpa ever ate them.

I guess we are fish snobs here then.  I wouldn't eat bream.

But, here we compete with sharks for the choice cuts:

Ok, not technically fishing, but i think it really does count as fishing if you ask me. When i got this bad boy during the November hunting season this year, I pulled the trigger,  it quickly fell down and  into a pond  I had to go in up to my waist to pull it out, in 30degree weather...no waders :O.  Good news is, ive already had kids...you would be amazed at how cold that water was....my twig and berries decided to come back out right around the time Puxatawney Phil said spring was coming..not sure if they saw their shadow....I was just glad to have them back.:lol

Ill leave it up to you gents if its actually fishing

Just got it back from the taxidermist today......already got a spot on the wall picked out at our new house (we close on the new house next Friday  :x)  Ive also warned the wife the first time I see a christmas ball,  garland or a "Kiss me im Irish" necklass hanging from the antlers, im going to pic a pair of her best shoes, and feed them to our dog...with or without A1 sauce    ;)

not the best photo as you cant see 3 of the points......10pnt if you score it legal.....   22inch inside spread...Longest point is R2 at 12inches long....... 11 pnts if you score it how me and dad would (if you can hang a ring on the point, it counts  :D )  Regardless, you know its a good deer when it takes 2 13yrolds to hold up the mount

Dad, you would have been darn proud of your son, and grandson this year.....This one is for you .......I miss you!

Hehe, not gonna say it's fishing mbailey, but it was a good story!  :)  Got back into deer hunting last year for the first time since I was a teenager, because my daughter wanted to get into of all things.  I really enjoyed myself.  I didn't get anything but was able to set my daughter up to get two does.  Even though it signals the end of fishing  :cry I am looking forward to giving it a crack again this year.  That's a nice buck, but I got to say I think I prefer the backstraps over the horns.   :)
