Having the same issue with sound, reguardless of distance, the planes and GVs sounded like they were right on top of me even though they were several K out.  I also had an issue where when I had my GV running, all volumes muted low, but as soon as I turned off my engine, volumes of everything else increased. Sounds good, just needs to be configured better.  :salute

Numerous sound issues here too.

- Explosions on ground loud no matter your distance from them
- Enemy planes loud as hell from tower - even with "environment" turned way down
- GVs sound louder than my plane flying overhead.
- With "environment" and "effects" at @50% each, other planes are much louder than mine.
- Any vox use triggers bursts of loud sounds even with those sliders turned down to 25%.
- Vox in general seems muted compared to before.  I set mine at 100%.

Questions:

- I have a 2.1 speaker system and onboard sound in windows7.  Is it correct to have sound set to stereo speakers on the clipboard?
- I am using a hodge-podge sound pack.  Is anyone experiencing similar issues with the stock sounds?
- What is the purpose of the music slider?  The armed forces didn't have Ipods in the '40s as far as I know.  :P

P.S. I saw the enemy CV's tracers going through the blacked out part of my screen while operating the 17 .lb gun at the port.

Yes, I have always avoided custom sounds (they add one more thing that can cause unexpected issues), and am experiencing similar issues with the stock sounds.

The base warning sirens were so loud yesterday that our squad could barely talk to each other. I tried turning it down using options>game sounds>environment "speaker" slider and applying the changes. That would make the siren softer, but as soon as I went to another field it sounded like death metal again.

The biggest problem I have is when i spawn in (aircraft/gv) the volume is the way I set it but after someone talks on vox or some other event the volume goes right back up to the point of blowing my ears until I shut down the engine and restart.

I am still trying to stop the bleeding.

Are you guys implying that in the new version of the sound system you can't turn down the siren and base warning individually?  Wow.. that would be a major bummer.

No you cant turn down any other individual sound effect. Also Some of us now have no squad channel or range mic ,We have been reduced to typing only . The new sound system sucks.

I keep hearing about low end sound cards. So if I am correct, the sound was altered and messed up for all because of the FEW who chose to play the game and not spend the cash for a good, COMPLETE PC gaming system but instead use their everyday PC system and TRY to game on it? Talk about a few bad apples....  :huh I also agree with all that was said so far regarding tanks coming from ALL around, cannons and machine guns sounding the same, a very low and distorted Vox and along with that I can no longer hear my gear or the whistle from my own bombs being dropped. The one, ONE thing i BEG of you HT, please if at all possible go back to the way it was where you (the player) have the option to adjust all individual game sounds. I thought that was the BEST feature in the sound option category before and allowed you to customize to your personal liking. I had my M8 running like a lamb before due to my ability to adjust those certain individual sound options, now i fear to take one out due to the fact that I enjoy my ability to hear and don't want to visit the doctor with bleeding ears.  I however, unlike most, understand this is in the beginning faze and am not upset. just a few thoughts and concerns is all.  :salute Keep up the good work   <S> DeViouS

You're not correct.

You are incorrect about the reason for the changes.

You implied that the changes were solely made for those with low end sound cards or onboard sound when that is completely incorrect.
