Esc, options, preferences, game sounds, turn down effects and enviorment to 25%.

Not quite.  As soon as I come into contact with an external sound like a plane, the layering sounds double or triple in volume immediately and rip through my speakers.  As soon as the airplane gets out of external range, the sound immediately cuts back down to standard settings.  Sound terrible and is incredibly annoying and non immersive.

If you want to totally eliminate some individual sounds, grab Baumer's empty wav file from here:

Put it somewhere that you can copy it multiple times with different sound names and put those "empty" sound files in your sounds folder. That will mute anything you don't want to hear.

The annoying siren and base under attack alert would be my first choices. Somewhere around the boards is a list of the sound names, otherwise grab a custom sound pack and look at the names of the sounds in it and use those names.

BaldEagl, what your seeing is the vocal minority pissing and moaning. Turn sound down and all is fine, learn to read the clip board map which took all of 15 sec's to memorize the base layout and all is fine. Or you can take the other road, act like a little girl because your to lazy to open a map and learn you can't take out a base with 2 sets of lancs any more. which took a bumbling squad of morons 8 sets before the update so now they need to recruit 8 more people so maybe they can kill the base with 16 sets.

What is "to the point?" and what sucks (<--spelled correctly) about the sound?  Perhaps it can be adjusted.

Sorry AH2 staff I know you guys worked your butts off on this but im not a fan. I think the days of base takes and war wins is gone or on the way out. looks like a furballers dream though so im sure Sunbat and Griz will be pleased. Perhaps you may keep one arena with the old version sound and layouts for the old farts with bad eyes.
I thinks my days is numbered.

I undersatand that but I DO use speakers, not a headset, and I'm afraid that if I even try the new version, HT will decide to dump the new sound system again for further work, then I'll lose all my individual sound settings for the old system.  Just trying to hedge my bets and wait a few patches.
