India develops a computer that will sell for $35 and eventually the cost will drop to $10.

To sell a touchscreen computer for 10 bucks they'd have to build it from cow dung and use an imaginary display in true India(tm) fashion. Then they'll call it mind exercise for the students, they can astrally project the imaginary use of the cow-dung object.

People tend to forget that this laptops aren't meant for the general consumer like you and me but rather for students in improvished countries that wouldn't be able to afford a computer otherwise.

Operating system is some version of Linux and it uses nothing but a memory card for a hard drive. For $35 that can't be much of a memory card, unless they are getting some serious discounts.

I know where there are about 32 million "improvished" people that arent even students and that would love to have one of these IF they work.

I don't know if you guys saw it but there was a good 60 Minutes piece on Nicholas Negroponte and his One Laptop per Child program about a year or so ago.  A lot of the cost is susidized by the parts manufacturers and he was having trouble getting enough parts because Intel was actually competing with him directly for the impoverished country's education contracts.  In the end I think they worked something out but those machines, while not particularily powerful, are nearly indestructable because they're exposed to shock, dust, water, etc., etc..
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Even if it had a memory card instead of a hard drive. If ran simple programs for children for the price it would be terrific.

Most tech sites put this thing quite correctly to the 'I believe it when I see it' category.
