Joy problem
« on: May 21, 2001, 06:01:00 AM »
I've tried with two different joys (F16 FLCS/TQS/CH pedals and Cyborg 3D no USB) and using two different joy ports (builtin motherboard and SoundBlaster ports), same effect. At medium range and X or Y axis I got serious spikes. No spikes at extremes and center. Increasing dumper or dead band doesnt help at all.
Is there any issue related to W98 or DX7.0a? Any idea about how to solve that?
I doubt the pots of both joys are dirty ...

S!

I had a Saitek 3D Cyborg (game port) and it had spiking and also veered to left.No calibration etc. cured it.It very rarely functioned well.Gave it away and changed to MS Precision2 USB before Cougar is out... I think the problem is with Win9x and Dx.One thing worth trying is "Disable Poll with Interrupts" from Control Panel-->Gaming Devices(Joystick icon). Also change preferred gameport from Standard to the Soundcard's one.MIGHT help a bit...

Thanks DB603
1 - How to change the prefered game port? I have two, and any joy is detected using any of them, but in the joy setup dialog I able to list only one "standar joy port".
2 - I've read that SB "VJOYD.VXD" has some bugs that derive into spikes, any place to download a good version of that file?
3 - Can you describe a bit the MS Precision2? If found very few info on MS web, very basic info. Nothing about programming, nothing about key combinations, etc.

Problem solved. Adquired a X36 USB combo and mixed it with my F16 FLCS/TQS/CH Pro pedals, grrrrreat simbiosis, all works fine now except the F16 pots.

S!

Good to hear Your problems are solved! MS Percision2 is a basic stick with 8 buttons and 8-way hat with twist handle and throttle slider. It has new version of the software and is pretty handy IMO.What I have suffered with it is that it has gotten "loose" ie. it has 1-3mm slack in it.Otherwise good.
