A new way to take command of CV's
« on: July 31, 2010, 01:28:43 AM »
When you see B-24's 6K away from sinking your cv, it can be quite a challenge trying to bring up the clipboard, open the task group section, find the cv you want to turn, and turn it before the bombers kill it.

How about the option to right click the cv group on the clipboard map, and there being an option to "Take Command" of that cv. You click to take command, and the task group section on the clipboard opens up with you in command of the cv group (if no one else has it, or if your rank out ranks them). No more searching through 10 different cv group names looking for the one you want.

I will sink 99/100 cvs from 5.5k alt at full speed in my B26.  Auto ack will shoot at me for about four seconds before I drop eggs then do evasive maneuvers.  Very rarely a gunner will get one of my buffs.  I may lose one. Or two to enemy fighters but that rarely happens too.  I guess my point is by the time you see the buff icon it may be too late.

This is precisely why we need to get faster control of the cv [double face palm].

+1 for right click access.

A couple other things would be nice:
1. Have the patrol option as the default, instead of looped. I use the loop option about 0.001% of the time.
2. When selecting a path over land, don’t make me have to click on some darn small “ok” button to continue. That has got to be the worst, please make the “ok” screen go away after clicking anywhere on the screen.

Yes, and YES! Just a simple "Waypoint touches land" message in the text buffer would be nice, and just don't plot the point if it touches land.

I'll let you guess how many seconds I am within dar range, if you really wanted to save that cv you would look at the direction of the nearest base.  That's where I'll be coming from, most of the time I'll be coming from another sector it normally takes me at least 5 min and mostly like 10 to 15 to get to the cv.

So triple face palm for not paying attention and quad face palm for trying to make it up by wishing for  a gaming rule change.  ok just being sarcastic, but this should be together with the I got shot down by a tank so change the tank thread.

edit: there's a guy outthere  dont know who he is, but I will see him occasionally  turning the cv just at the right moment and I will miss, even at such a low alt.  maybe you guys should ask him.  I can tell it is only one because of how the cv turns the same way everytime, unless of course he shared the info with somebody else. most of the time they cv will be running straight as an arrow.

Semp, are you for or against this? It seems like you would be the type to dive after a turning CV, loss of drones be damned. So the 30sec faster (at best) response time wouldn't really affect you.

Still, +1.

I am really against it, no need for it, this wish to me seems like the guy who yells at everybody because he didnt get a check six and got shot down.  Like I mentioned before it takes about 10 to 15 MINUTES for a buff to get to the cv. how much warning do you really want to get ready to move the cv.  if dar is up you can see me coming before I even know where the cv is, that is at least a min or two right there, but hardly anybody pays attention.

and for the record,  no diving here, my pride is sinking the cv and coming home with all my buffs, the more ack/gunners/fighters around the better.  and if somebody turns the cv at the right moment and i dont have the right drop solution, i continue on my course, evade ack, go around for a sector, come back.  take a wild guess how many fighters will follow me?  hardly any most of the time.

I really think this wish is just trying to make up for lack of attention.  sorry for the -1111111111.

Right click the CV icon and hit the "EVADE" button followed by a hard right or hard left.  That would simulate a fleet's real actions more closely.
