Current MA's
« on: August 19, 2010, 10:59:14 PM »
Maybe its just and my general boredom with the game lately but has anyone else notice that both maps in the LW arena suck?
Neither one has any good fights going that are worth staying at. Tried to play EW and MW but they both have the same map thats equally as sucky as LW.
I dunno but this is my last month for a good long time. Got to much college work coming up to play so I sure hope we get some better maps before I leave.

The maps aren't the problem, nor have they ever been the problem.

Maps with more unique terrain features would be nice for the gv guys.

The map is everything. Sucky map = no fun.

Indeed. I'd be happy if they'd leave an arena as ozkansas all the time with at least one uncapturable base per team in TT and no airfields on the island.

The players dictate everything the map cannot.

So please tell me, what is it that makes Compello (current map in LWO) a "sucky map"?

To think maps play no part in helping create fights in Aces High, or any game for that matter is naive.

If it was the players every map would be equally fun and we wouldn't need more than one map. Each map is unique and some are allot more fun than others.

None of those maps happen to be in play right now though.

Actually, there a few (if any) maps better for creating GV fights at any given moment than Compello.

Its just massive furballs. There's a couple small GV fights but i haven't found one other than the one at 85(which is gone now) thats lasted more than a few minutes and then its over.

I disagree. ozkansas is the best tanking map period.

 :rofl   I love those "periods"

You have ever looked an OZkansas layout? If TT  and just a few other other keybases are taken, tank combat quickly dies down for a side.

On Compello however, there are the strings of Vbases all over the map, you never run out of vbases spawning to other VBases, which is about the best thing for tank combat - spawning to airbases usually results in getting a bomb or some 37mm guns instead.

Also Compello is great in providing  all gameplay opportunites, yet there is instant & quick air combat possible about all the time.
Look at trinity... when the map comes up, the eastern country faces long ocean flights or 30k mountains.... or  beta2 - the only map that never fails to make LWBlue the most popular arena if it's up in LWOrange ;)

There's a couple small GV fights but i haven't found one other than the one at 85(which is gone now) thats lasted more than a few minutes and then its over.

Note that recently  GV/Vbase  battles on all maps had been declining. In the last few years, you could alway find a GV battle on Compello, It's probably the map I have fought most of my tank battles since the original Tank Town died.

Maybe not for furballs, but it sure does for gv battles.

Maps can shape every kind of battle/gameplay. Some do quite considerably. On trinity you almost have to hope someone succeds with a CV sneak on a rear base if you happen to be the western Country. ONly then you can really get a furball going.

um what? I think we are talking about the same thing. I'm not a furballer so I dont know what dictates that but the map makes a big difference of what kind of gv fights you get.
