And then there would be the custom skins, which nobody else would see on your plane but you, and maybe, the people that downloaded your custom skin if you share it with the community.

Custom skins = only you can see it.

Stay on topic.

Now which is it?

Now which is it?

Why the hell would anybody download an invisible P-40 skin?

To make the game more difficult?

It would affect them and people that chose to download it. Community skins, non historical, just for chits and giggles.

That kind of stuff.

Umm why wouldn't they?  Or make and use any other skin like that.

Okay, sure, it would only affect them. Here's a scenario. You spot a normal looking P39Q. Knowing its rear view is obstructed you move in behind and below him slowly creeping up on him. Thinking to yourself you're about to get an easy kill because there is no way he'll see you.
Thing is he made himself a custom skin that only he can see. He looks behind him and instead of his view being obstructed like any other P39 he sees this.

He then sees you sneaking up, turns around, and kills you. You find out he is using an invisible skin, how do you react?

Never thought of that for some reason.

Your idea is a good one. I myself would love to have it since there are some really cool historical skins I want to make but cant since they never saw combat. You just have to know that some idiots would use it to give themselves unfair advantages.

No skins you make will be visible online without HTC going through the process of hosting them on their server for download in their own format. That means HTC is going to see them and review them as they package them up into a .res file.

Further, I don't recall ever (from day 1) mention of being able to see your offline skins in the DA before. I would find this highly unlikely unless it was totally a glitch/bug that HTC fixed. They would never intentionally do this, from what I've seen so far.

Skins won't show up online unless HTC puts them up there for download, and they won't do that unless they meet the skinning criteria.

P.S. Bright neon green flame skins and rainbow colored planes is one thing I detest with IL2 skins. Mega-thumbs-down on this request.
