I have an X52 as well. It's a great stick--when it works.
Sometimes when I used a button (trigger for example), the LEDs on the stick and throttle would blink, as if it lost power, come back on and be uncalibrated, throwing my plane, and perk points from kills, into the ground. I'm pretty sure its a power and driver issue. I have mine connected to a powered D-link USB hub and it still does this. Ive tried it directly plugged into my pc and it still happens.
Completely unplugging the USB hub, which would dismount the stick from windows. Then plugging it back in, which would remount the stick bringing it back to it's proper calibration was the only solution I had for a while.
So, I decided to completely turn off the back light to the LCD and turned down the brightness on the LEDs and it hasn't powered off and come uncalibrated since. I'm sure it will happen again but it seems to be a viable fix for now. Its just sad when you pay a lot of money for something that only works most of the time. It has made me a bit paranoid to buy anymore Saitek products which I've never had problems with until now. Because I want their throttle quadrant and a few of their mini LCD instrument panels.
