Stick wont hold cal
« on: August 27, 2010, 03:38:55 PM »
My X52 pro keeps losing cal, I see the illuminated buttons start to blink then I have to recal.  All connections are secure, but the stick seems kinda wobbly...its not even a year old.......whats a CH stick/throttle gonna cost and how durable are they if I have to replace it?

Do a search, there are many many threads on this.

First thing I would suggest, getting a powered USB.

The usb hub may or may not help.  Some X-52s are of questionable quality.  The first one gave me trouble almost from the start and no amount of usb hubs or cable securing helped.  It was fine some times and other times not so much.  Lasted a year so far on my second one now and it works perfect with or without the usb hub.  Only calibrated it the first time in AH and has been trouble free.

Try turning down your led lights to zero as they suck power and could be causing your problem.  If that doesn't help, then try a usb hub.

For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

I have a hub, I'll rearrange the cables so they go to the hub.  The cord from stick to stick seems kinda loose.

A simple fix for that is carefully squeezing the metal connection on the wire to make it slightly oblong.  That will hold it into the throttle and stick better.

lol

Joysticks lasting a year is a disgrace, the people who make these sticks know very well how long the last and must be laughing all the way to the bank.
How long does a play station xbox etc pad last a year?

There are a lot of high sticks appearing maybe they will last.

CH products seem to have less issues then other , (plug them in and they work) and they are American which is a surprise not like there daft fat cars.

I have an X52 as well. It's a great stick--when it works.

Sometimes when I used a button (trigger for example), the LEDs on the stick and throttle would blink, as if it lost power, come back on and be uncalibrated, throwing my plane, and perk points from kills, into the ground. I'm pretty sure its a power and driver issue. I have mine connected to a powered D-link USB hub and it still does this. Ive tried it directly plugged into my pc and it still happens.

Completely unplugging the USB hub, which would dismount the stick from windows. Then plugging it back in, which would remount the stick bringing it back to it's proper calibration was the only solution I had for a while.

So, I decided to completely turn off the back light to the LCD and turned down the brightness on the LEDs and it hasn't powered off and come uncalibrated since. I'm sure it will happen again but it seems to be a viable fix for now. Its just sad when you pay a lot of money for something that only works most of the time. It has made me a bit paranoid to buy anymore Saitek products which I've never had problems with until now. Because I want their throttle quadrant and a few of their mini LCD instrument panels.

Ch stick never recalibrated it once.

Adjustment wheels though can be a problem

I have a very new CH Combatstick, and I have to recalibrate it 2-3 times an hour. I've calibrated it in Windows, I've loaded Control Manager, but no improvement. Control Manager doesn't seem to recognize the stick, so I'm not sure what to do next with it.

switch usb plug to another then hit calibrate button, then rescan, it should show up on the controller calibration.  I just did that few days ago.  mine wouldnt show up either.
