Crossing the Line?
« on: September 04, 2010, 04:55:25 PM »
There has been some talk of Axis 262's crossing the 6 line late in the frame to get some kills on RTB Allies.  The 6 line is inside the Dar ring, so I'd expect the base to flash while the baddies are still on their side.  If anyone flew to the base to vulch, then they absolutely should be penalized.  But, without either film or the seeds to admit fault, the is no point in arguing about it.

I got disco'd with about 20 minutes left, so could not witness any such enemy activity.  Actually, I didn't get a chance to witness much enemy activity anyway, since there was nobody around A69 except for us Allied guys.

4 of us DID in fact go to A24 but did not cross the 6 line. We did flash the base and we did kill many Allies while RTB, but no vulches, capping base, etc. We only capped the area around 24 (East side).

If you need films we will be glad to provide them (providing 1 of those 4 filmed).

We were in 38's landing at 24. The only film i have showing 262's is with our runway in sight,(a good distance out), several 262's, 10 klicks out at around 4,000 ft. thats the only time i have them on film, close to 24

I would have to mirror this statement only we were flying 51's. But I witnessed the same as above mentioned as I had basically stated in another thread.

While I saw 262's near the base and the base was flashing intermittently. At no time did I see a 262 even remotely close enough to the base to be a threat to vulch or be a threat to those landing. My guesstimation and opinion is that at least when I was in the area IF any 262s "crossed the line". It was only for the briefest of time and probably inadvertent.

Late in the frame we plopped ourselves about 8 to 10 miles east of the 6 line so we could have time to catch guys RTB. kappa and I made sure we NEVER crossed the 6 line. At the most we were at LEAST 1-2 miles east of it. We would chase ponies around TO the line and once they crossed we would NOT pursue.

I was rtb and ran into the 262s.  They were definitely on the correct side of the line and looked to be flying with discipline.
I get really really tired of selective realism disguised as a desire to make bombers easier to kill.

I was also with the final groups of p51s rtb, the 262s disengaged as we crossed the sector line more or less, and were in no position to be considered vulching.

Don't you think having announce on the base allies would landed is a advantage for the axis.  all they have to do , sure look like what they where doing, is fly around along that 6 line near the base a pick any cons rpt.

We weren't that successful if you look at the logs. We spent most of the 20 minutes we were there actually running from ponies screaming in from 35K.

first off this all starts with the suggestion of impropriety, when none is found then we have the unfairness cries and then the adjustments ...

i see all these bones going one way, so now i have a question, will the Germans have full coverage radar well into england as is appropriate for this time period this frame ???

i am also curious about the lack of the TA-152 in this design, is there an explanation for that ???

Thorsim I see you're not taking my advice to heart. So let me try one more time, with one of my favorite quote's from the movie "Blue Thunder".

"But there's a bright side to this, and a moral. I think morals are good for you, I love morals, and the moral of this story is: If you're walkin' on eggs, don't hop."

There was no impropriety found/documented/sent to the admin CM, so that's a closed subject.

I am not the designer of the event, but I seriously doubt there will be any changes made to the radar settings or aircraft. This has to to with balance (of a game) just as much as historical accuracy. I seriously doubt you'd want to have to ground 75% of the Axis aircraft due to a lack of fuel would you?

Let's put this behind us and move on to the next frame, which (even with the changes) will be a fun event for everyone.
