Pigs Visit
« on: September 23, 2010, 07:01:40 AM »
Hello All,

The Pigs came over to the AVA in a larger group last night, and had a great time.  I brought over about 8 Pigs to get them used to the no icons setup.  I thank all who were gracious and enjoyed the air combat.  Look for the Pigs to begin spooling up in bombers and GV's over the next few days, as we drill for the upcoming challenge.

Some of the fights were truly excellent.  And a very well-behaved crowd.  Good times, hope to see these folks more often.

I wish I'd received a few more Check-Six calls from my allies last night, but since they probably wouldn't have made any difference given my stick handling I decided not to let it detract from my fun  :salute

Its a great arena guys and the settings are a riot once you get used to the no-icon thingy.  Fights are close, death is quick and a shiny new plane awaits you.  If you want SA training, this arena blows the DA out of the water...no offense.

Great fun last night :salute

Gentlemen,
I have had the pleasure of flying with the Pigs and even hanging on their vox a few times in the MA. Make no mistake, we will be in for a heck of a fight this Tuesday. They operate with the utmost efficiency and ruthlessness. Very much like a well oiled machine. (steamroller maybe?)

One episode that sticks out in my mind was a particular Port assault. The port had an airfield, town and a CV sitting in the front yard. We flew nearly 2 sectors to make the strike. First went the CV, followed by the town. A cap was then placed over the field, while GV's rolled for the maproom. What ensued was a knock down dragout fight where the defenders fought tooth and nail to thwart the advance. (No hangars were dropped as I recall.)

I should note here that there were several uppers when we arrived, as the attack was not NOE. As Pigs went down, they had to fly through heavy ack-ack (from the CV remnants) and aircons to reach the target again.

What saved the day for this mission was the excellent communication within the squad, as well as the superb gunnery of the tankers. At one point some fellow started singing.....I laughed my arse off. Then, some nice lady brought in the troops and it was game over.

I offer this story as a cautionary tale. Be prepared Men of the AVAR. While most pigs are smelly, dirty, and stupid, this bunch seems to be of the Arnold variety.

Your check is in the mail Melvin.  That lady would be our only Sow, Wldsbabe.  She is the troop/supply backbone of the squad.

I am not smart but I make up for it by being dirty and smelly.... :neener:  If you want the real story...read the quote below!  Even Momma don't get to third!

Had fun yesterday, albeit I can't hit much with the 109's :lol.  One thing about the check 6 calls, it's harder in there becouse even your friendly icons are short.  By the way did anybody dredge my G2 out of the harbor, it's painted like a cow and there's not a hole in it?  Didn't even compress it, tried to dive under a spit for a low 6 shot and simply misjudged the water (spit was lower then I thought) :rofl  I really need a bigger moniter :lol
