Derk, you can set up shots with the AHfilm viewer and do an admirable job putting them together with MS movie maker both of which you likely already have.

About the only thing you would need that isn't free is Fraps to convert them to a Movie Maker supported file.

I believe Fraps offers a freeware version but it is limited somehow. Leaves a watermark on your films or something, I'm not sure.

Supposedly there is a way to use AH film viewer to convert AH film files to AVI but I was never able to do it.

Download and watch these two excellent tutorials and you will be on your way.

Fraps does have a free version which allows you to record 30 seconds at a time. I wouldn't waste your time messing with converting your films to AVI. They look like crap when you're done.
If you want to make good quality films I'd suggest getting Fraps and Sony Vegas software. Although Sony isn't free and depending on what version you get, it can get pretty pricey. Fulmar has a excellent video in the films and screenshots forum that will walk you though all the steps on how to edit and setup shots using the AH film viewer, Fraps and Windows Movie Maker.

That's the link I posted. It was very helpful to me and will point a guy in the right direction.

Click on your saved shot and then click "Play Shot"

To capture it in Fraps hit F-9 or whatever hot key you have mapped.

Then go to my computer-local disk-fraps-movies and your frapped clips should be in there.

Import these into movie maker and you can trim their length and such there.

Don't really know, I have the purchased version, but I think they would function basically the same.
