The KI-84-IB
« on: September 26, 2010, 02:29:34 PM »
The KI-84-IA is an all around good bird in the right hands. BUT, My wish is to bring in the Ki-84-Ib which sported 4 x 20mm Ho-5 cannon (2 in wings, 2 in fuselage) each with 150 rounds...... :O      :x       :rock

No, not the 84Ic because those were designed for killing B29's. We don't have any in here so that's why I just suggested the 84Ib =)

Seriously, you want the best (solid airframe) japanese army plane?
vote for Ki-100! :aok

Unlike the ki-84's weak chassis at high speed, the Ki100 can survive a lightning, run down hogs & cats and can catch a mustang :aok

Wrong on all counts. Ki-100 = Ki61. Ki-84 is better in every category, including guns, ammo load, roll rate, manunverability (one of the most manuverable planes in the game) and climb/vertical manuvering.

Ki-84 is the best Japanese plane in the planeset, currently. Adding a copy of the Ki-61 won't change that.

I do have a bit of an issue with the "all controls pop off at 450mph" feature, though. I don't think that's accurate.

But to me it's not as stable as ki-61 :joystick:

I'd take a ki-61 with 400hp more horsepower (radial engined ki-100) that can sustain long high speed dives anyday than ki-84 :airplane:

Krusty while I don't necessarily agree with Perrine's assessment of the Ki-100, you keep asserting that the Ki-100 is the same as the Ki-61. Could you please explain how this could be possible, given the available data for both aircraft?

I do agree with you that the shedding of parts on our current Ki-84 is mysterious. I have been unable to find an explanation if it is to model poor manufacture or a documented fault of this type? Any comment HTC?

Sorry to poo poo the idea, but I would also find it far more interesting to see the Ki-100 added, given the armament of the Ki-84-Ia model is already fairly decent and the b doesn't really bring anything else to the party in terms of interest or variety.
