In some way, the "harm" is already there. Because you and some others had certain expectations or hopes, that haven't been fulfilled for some part.
But I have to say quite frankly: Having such expectations in the MA (chaotic, free for all, and uninformed as it is) is wrong in the first place. I think I made my point pretty clear at the last memorial flight fiasco in the MA a few months ago. You can only be disappointed then.

And on a more personal note: Even knowing about this MoM and your intention to "honor the events 67 years ago", it was absolutely NOT my reason for taking a A5. Bluntly said: I couldn't care less. My reason was I wanted to "honor" (I admit i don't even like to use that word) you, my opponents. I had the feeling I should refrain from simply blasting through the raid in my 262 for the umpteenth time, particularly as you wished to engage more proper period planes. But again, that had nothing to do with "honoring" any real WW2 events or people.

321,

I really didn't expect any better but please remember this particular
mission was a themed event to honor pilots who fought and died in the
actual battle 67 years ago.

I was hoping that players would honor that spirit.
I'm not mad, just disappointed and embarrassed for them.

If they didn't know, then no harm, no foul.

I'm hoping that was the case as I don't want to believe that
players are that indifferent to our attempts to honor
the battle and the men who flew in it.  I hope they have more
class than that.

So, when viewed against this understanding,
Funny?  Not so much.
like they said Delta you cant always expect ppl to listen some just dont care bud anywho. TheFew had a great time with 7 P47Ns we managed to kill atleast 20 of the attacking planes with 5 of our Boys being lost  :( had a Great Time Delta looking forward to the next one  :salute :salute :salute

the bish were there for the fun, the P47M was really the only good plane to get to that altitude in that time frame and at the same time be able to fight BOTH germans and americans. hence why we chose it and hence why we flew it

MoM 5 had Allied attacking the mission and vulched bombers on the runway

MoM 6 had Allied attacking the mission

Looks like some progress was made this time.

MoM 7 will have planes other than those in the mission tag along for the fight and will have Allied shooting Allied.  Keeping it to a minimum is the best that can be expected.

I had a blast this go around.  Last MoM, I lost 1 drone and only got a few assists.  This MoM I lost 1 17 but, 5 of em did not go home... :devil

1 Tempest, 2 190's and 2 P-47's.

As for the Tempests and P-47's, meh.  From what I can tell, not a single Tempest made it home.  At the very least the ones that got near the 91st didn't. :devil  The P-47's I do have to give a little lead way as they had a little bit of a hop to make to get to us.  I don't think Delta is complaining that the Bishops came to the fight (personally, I was happy to see some of them make it :aok).  His primary complaint is the use of Allied aircraft against us.  Eitherway, you all need to chill out. :lol :aok  I had a blast, personally. :x

On a side note, I really do think I was the only one left out of the 91st. :lol

Its not a big deal guys.

We still had fun.  It wasn't what 80 of us wanted but
it still proved to be a good time.

I do realize the risks we take when doing this in the arcade
arena and we are working to minimize them with each mission
we run.

Still, last night I made a crucial mistake by informing people of
our target on 200 and via PM's.  That was stupid of me.

On subsequent missions we'll play the cards very close to the chest.
After all, "all war is based on deception" (Sun Tzu).  Its high time
we started using it.

Next one should be interesting though.  It's much more limited
than these big bomber missions.  It probably won't last as long
either but I'm hoping it's equally fun for those who wish to
participate.

I don't think that this mattered much. There are not that many targets to choose from for a mission of that size. No need to get the crystal ball out of the cabinet. ;)

In that regard, the old zoned system had some advantages:" They are going to radar factory in 10-11. WAIT! They just turned towards the ords factory in 9-14!"

In general, all seemed to have a good time...the players attacking the formation made a valiant effort to bring down the aggressors, the defense worked very well considering the 47's where limited on fuel and could not escort the bombers to target! The fighter groups had to turn around and refuel,re-engage. Once the escorts did return we where able to pin 190's ect., between us and the bombers where they got chewed up in quick order  :joystick:

The one thing that mkes a mom good is the fact that as far as i see no one "dislikes it "

Didn't matter?? Your joking right? Being forewarned allowed 190's along with Jugs to be at 30k+ in order to intercept and dive into the bomber stream. I'd say it made a huge difference!

Delta, I'd encourage you to run them more often if you want more players to be more familiar with the MoMs and then perhaps also have more influence on how well a theme is followed on both the green and red guys side.

I agree.

The mission was posted here for just shy of 2 weeks with the lift off time and country of origin.  At 8:30, 3 sectors go full dar bar at the bottom of Rook territory.  Yeah, giving a shout out on 200 didn't give anyone much of a jump start.  Ya'll still had about 2 hours to get to altitude and intercept.  What's another 15 min?  Seriously?

I didn't know the exact time (I'm frequently getting confused with all that different timezones), and I'm not tuned to Ch200.

I just waited for the darbars to appear, and when they did so far south, I logged off, played another round Mount&Blade, came back after 20 minutes and still had enough time to get a gasping for air 190A-5 to 30k and finally met the enemy 2 sectors from his target.  :lol
