Yep, works fine and can be tuned to look (almost) like Win98.
I got professional version but it doesn't recognize my MS FF Pro connected to SB-Live thought it works via integrated sound-chip or Terratec soundcard.

OS loads REALLY fast, is stable as rock and works nicely with Win2K drivers.

I've used it in work and will be buying it as soon as it is released.

Much better than any current MS OS.

I wouldn't get XP from any retail sales..

Product Activation Code..

Change anything in your system and you'll be forced to contact microsoft to get your computer working again.

Isn't m$ wonderful?

I was reading somewhere that WindowsXP will not be available as an upgrade... wish I could remember where.

It seems MS is going to make each version a full version from now on with no upgrade options.

Look I am no big fan of Microsoft but misinformation is not helpful.

Myth - Product action codes means reactivating anytime you change anything

Truth - Must change more than 60% of major components in your system.  Should not be a problem unless you are trying to install to more than one machine.

Myth - No upgrades to XP.

Truth - Upgrades are allowed and prices for upgrades have been anounced.  Mass upgrades for businesses are changing.

XP works great, is very stable. I am running it on a number of machines at work and at home.  It is not revolutionary and most is not new, biggest improvement is that it works.

Its a superb OS.
And I havent tried the full version, only the RC2. Great OS, high price, and product activation can be dealt with (*wink* *wink*, *nudge*)

The only problem with XP that I see is that (like win2k originally) performance is going to decrease.  AH users will probably lose several FPS going to XP from 98.

Windows ME users will love a real OS.  ;)

Win2k SP2 users would be hard pressed to find a really good reason to "upgrade" at this point.  It won't be any more stable than 2k already is.  (Likely less stable to begin with.)

You know, I see no real reason to upgrade.  I here complaints about 98 all the time, but I have never had my system crash, lockup, or any other such.
Don't get me wrong, I think Microsoft should be castrated for calling what they sell an operating system.
I figure XP will be pretty solid by the end of 2002.  Maybe I will look at it then.  You bleeding-edge technologists have a ball with it.   :D

I wish I knew why my systems are so stable with 98.  I bet I could reap a fortune from those that have so many problems.

If you get XP Pro you don't have to worry about the activation business.

Early remarks are nearly all positive. It is generally called the "OS Microsoft should have done before now."

I don't like the activation business, but there may not be any choice if the thing works as well as many say it does.

XP will NOT decrease your performance.  It improved my fps in many games by 200%, and is MUCH more stable than Win98.

Tac, I think you may still be able to get the WinXP RC1 for $10, but I'm not sure.  I was one of the first XP testers. :)

Rendar: Whoa 200%.. That's a bold statement.

Now which games was that, which system specs and from which fps you improved to which?

Btw: early reports of XP include having to activate after plugging a single USB device in the computer. So much for the 60%.
