Cap... I use a track IR... I've been really happy with it.  From what I've heard the goggles and the game really don't play nice with each other.  I've gotten so used to my TIR that when I play 360 games or watch AH films it messes with me for about an hour.  Downsides, to me at least, the darker your room the better.  Can cause some 'motion' sickness at first.

Here are some other things I remember about the VR-920.

The head tracking worked, at least with the AH version of the time, but it doesn't use a centering focal point like TrackIR does, but some sort of internal magnet or gyro thing or something.

It didn't seem real consistent.

The 3D wasn't especially impressive and contributed to a bit of a shaky screen.

I considered removing the earpieces and mounting it in a helmet or something on a hinge, disable head tracking and use it in conjunction with TrackIR.

That way you could run it in clone with your monitor and if you needed to read text you could flip it up out of the way.

The 3d mode gives  a blurry double image on the cloned monitor but I think you can use a hotkey to quickly disable and enable that feature in game.

I wish it hadn't gotten damaged, I really did want to mess with it some more.

Emagin offers one called the Z800 I think. It uses OLED screens instead of LED and even though the native resolution isn't much different, some say it looks a lot better, but then some say it doesn't.

I don't believe it has support for AH so you wouldn't be able to use the native head tracking or 3D without an add on like glovepie which may or may not still work.

Plus it costs about 1500 bucks!

Vuzix is supposed to be coming out with the VR-1440 with much better resolution, but they mentioned that close to 2 years ago and nothing since.

Been using track ir for about two years now.  It was a real game changer for me.  It does take a few hours to get it adjusted and use to it's operation.  But, is well worth the investment if one is looking for very near world immersion.  It also makes flying in the tree tops bait easier, if one is so inclined.   :salute

Yeah, happens to me frequently when looking over my shoulder and turn around just in time to see a tree coming through the prop. :O

Hey Puma, I was just considering changing my game ID to Tree, just so that the system message would read "Tree shot you down" but most likely it would read "You shot down Tree"

Maybe you could get some well deserved revenge  :D

My favorite was 'Yo Momma'.

You shot Yo Momma, or Yo Momma shot you down...

Been looking at getting into an IR rig, but haven't had the time, money, or motivation.

go back to using a hat switch for one fight.

know when you're looking straight up, and you need to switch to forward up or back up?  know that silly little half spin the view does?

THAT is when i lose cons the most.
