Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

yes the EPOX 8k7a is great. I just built myself a new system with that and a 1.3mhz 266FBS T-bird. The chip has the proper steppings to go up to 1.6mhz. Make sure you purchase quality memory... i.e. crucial. Along with a Radeon 64mb DDR v-card, Im averaging 80 fps in AH without tweaking the system yet. Its a whole new game when u can fly through smoke at 40 fps and not experience system lag.

Got a question fer ya!

I am going to get a new system, either I build it or it's built for me. I was looking for the ASUS A7M266. One of the places I asked for quotes said they use the EPoX 8KHA3. Is this a better board? Is it comparable and is the bios as stable as te ASUS stuff is for AMD tbirds?

Maverick it looks like it is using Via KT266 chipset which is not as fast as AMD/Via combination used in A7M266 but my guess is only way to notice difference between them is via different benchmarks.
Looks fine to me.

Sunking,

Hrmmm...
I do 72 FPS / 40 FPS in smoke with celeron 566@850mhz and Radeon 64.
You do need tweaking  :D

I have the Epox EP-8K7A and have had zero problems.  Quality, performance, support are excellent.

I also built a system with a Epox EP-8KTA3 which works great.  This is not a DDR board but it further enhances my high opinion of Epox products.

I like what I'm reading about the Epox board.

Maverick, I read that the Epox 8KHA+ board with the new Via KT266a chipset is coming out in a week or so. It should outperform the KT266 chipset by a significant amount.

Thx all...  :)
