I'm using Win98.  I tried the undelete command in dos, but i'm not 100% how it works.. dos commands have faded from my memory.  I read that this file is unique to your system and cannot be copied from a buddy's comp?  Hell if it worked for you, i'll slap one from my laptop onto my  main PC.. hopefully that'll work.  Thanks though!

You can use the VMM32.dll from one Windows 98 machine to another- as long as they are the same install (revision) of Windows 98.

I do it all the time between PCs at work and here at home when something goes tits up.

If memory serves me correctly...and I'm not sure of the exact steps either lol, but in dos undelete, it finds all the files for you that have been deleted, then all you do is rename it back to the proper name (and make sure it's in the appropriate directory of course)

Hiya's,
Hold F8 down at bootup (should get prompt options) go for command prompt
At C: type   scanreg/restore
Then choose an earlier date before you deleted the part

Also i think the Start/Shutdown in DOS Mode will allow scanreg/restore

If still no joy email me and i'll send the part you need

Have Fun

Def

EDIT: I have Win98 and Win98SE if that helps

Hiya's,
If the above don't work try this ........

Save the file i sent to a floppy
Get into windose by safemode (F8 on boot choose safemode)
Slap floppy in and transfer file to windows directory
Reboot (restart option)
Tried it just and it worked for my setup

Hope this helps

EDIT: Sorry brains sluggish today  :D .......
Safemode/goto folder options (right mouse click on windows screen, follow prompts to Active desktop/Customise desktop ......
Folder options (click yes)
View Tab, click Show all Files under Hidden Files
Then see if the orig missing file now shows in trash bin
If it does restore it

Maybe that will work

Have Fun
