Now I understand, and its creepy
« on: October 22, 2010, 03:12:30 AM »
I always made fun of the US Armed forces for the way they sing while running, I thought it was wasting breath and dumb.

But I am starting to go for runs nowadays, and an ex USMC guy who is a friend of mine said try it. So I whacked as many of those things on my Ipod as I could find and tried it.

and I have never ran so far without being tired in my life.  :rofl

Any of you old guys got some reccomendations for me?

The chant keeps you occupied and your mind off of the activity itself, makes the mental aspect of running alot easier. It also increases your stamina, when you chant while running your starving your body of oxygen, but not in a bad way. If you do that for awhile and then start running without chanting, you will realise that you can run alot further. It is kinda of like running in high altitude and then going down to low altitude with rich oxygen to run.

Funny but that is also the difference between an aerobics instructor and someone taking their class.

The instructor has to be very fit to talk, push, and exercise too.

Oh boy at some of the cadence you could be taught with the wealth of knowledge on these boards.  The baseball team I coach had a blast when I'd take them for a little run and sing cadence to them.  But they knew when I stopped singing what it was time for.....sprints.  :bolt:

True story, when I'm running on my own and I want to get modo, or when I'm out front for a platoon run, I call jodies.

I suppose I know a couple. :)

Here's a good mix

This one always gets my head bobbin' to this day.  My 3 & 4 yr. old daughters have it memorized.  Makes a Ranger daddy proud:

Not everyone can call a good cadence, even if they know all the words.  Ya gotta have the right voice for it.
