My snippy answer is that we can best kill it by never allowing it in the game :).

However, speculating how best to kill a plane that doesn't exist in the plane set is a bit difficult. We don't yet know if the remote control nature of the gunners stations (other than the tail) are modelled so we don't know with what ease or difficulty the gunners will be under in trying to defend. Even if they have all the guns stripped out, ala Le May's mods to the Tinian/Saipan bombers, they are going to be tough to catch with most of the planes in the current plane set.

Japanese techniques against the Americans were becoming worrisome. In one technique the fighter would climb above the bomber formation and drop breakaway canister aerial burst phosphorous bombs. This proved very effective. Also the "Dragon Killer" night fighters were fitted with twin mounted 20mm cannons angled to shoot up. The idea was to coordinate their attack with ground searchlights, and approach the bombers from below, then shoot up into the formation. Most times they were never even seen. The war continued to deteriorate for the Japanese as the first long range P-51 escorts showed up to mark the beginning of the end for Japanese aviation.

Squads of 47's will devastate them, just don't take them on alone, come in on them just like that diagram frontal and high or high sideways attack and rake the wings with them 50's   :joystick:

The Japanese were really only able to successfully intercept the B-29 once the B-29s started flying at lower altitudes and even then the Japanese fighters still have difficulties.  If you look at the B-29's record, far more B-29s were lost to mechanical failure during missions than were shot down by Japanese fighters.
