btw wasn't LaGG-3-based La-5 the most common Lavochkin radial fighter that saw action in late 1942 to summer 1943?

LaGG-3 is an La-5 with a Kilmov M-105 engine (same engine found in Yak-1 + 1m

La-5 uses the Shvetsov Ash/M82(F)(FN) 14 cylinder two row radial engine, originaly made for a bomber

EDIT: and Btw that profile is incorect and I would not trust it as a reliable skin, as it depicts wing slats which were not added until later versions of the La-5

We basically have the 1944 La5FN (metal wing spar and La7 style cockpit)

An La5F would cover the period of 43 to early 44 (Think Kursk in terms of popular use). Externally the shape is very similar except for the air intake over the front cowl ring. Internally it would be timely to consider  a proper La5F/FN cockpit.

The La5  was active from late 42 to mid 43 (think Stalingrad). It was heavy and under powered compared to its later versions. It was Just better than the Lagg3 of 42 which was a bit of a dog interms of performance. The lagg3 only improved in performance during the last periods of production in 43.

Some of the  first La5's  were blessed with a 5 tank set (centre, 2 x inner 2 x outer) Some had 4 tank sets (no centre tank). This mix continued thru to the early La5f's which were later to take a 3 tank set.

In late 43 as the La5FN came on stream there was a mix of wooden/metal sparred La5F's and La5FN's each with  differing 3 tank sets.

For me the Yaks need an upgrade........ adding the Yak 3 (44) and the Yak 1 (41/42) & 7/9D (42/43).

Mig 3 is purty but was actually redundant after the winter campaign of 41/42

If you're referring to the text (Viva la revolution socialista en SSSR), most Russian skins already have such slogans on them, just... in Russian.

I dont understand what you mean about the La-5F/FN cockpit everywhere I read they all have the same cutback fuselage the only difference between the La-5FN and the La-7 are that the engine has a better tune and some aerodynamic improvments as far as I know only the original La-5 had a "razorback" style fuselage

No more Yak's or La's.    The Mig-3 would be more beneficial for FSO's, Scenario's and even be more fun in the MA's.

Although MiG-3 would be a useful early war fighter, Yak-1b, Yak-7 and LaGG-3 would be far, far more useful Special Events aircraft. They were delivered in far bigger numbers than MiG-3, were in use longer time and would have a lot better armament which is very important from the point of view of the average player.

MiG-3 would be great in many ways, though. One of the first inline engined fighter to be seen in the Finnish front for example. But saying that MiG-3 would be more beneficial for special events simply isn't true.

I like the MiG-3, but the I-16 can load a better armament, on the topic of La-5's aswell I see alot of sources saying that some of the FN's equiped the NS-23 23mm cannon as opposed to the ShVAK's I asked my grandpa on the phone earlier today and he had never heard of any La-5's carrying this wepon, as for his credability on the subject, he flew the one La-5 in the command unit of the 184th IAP several times in missions, so does anyone else have any more info regarding the VVS arming La-5's with dual 23mm cannon?

The internal cockpit layout for the Bulk of the La5's was not the same as the La7. AH has the La7 cockpit layout in both the La7 and the La5FN

This is a typical La5F / La5FN cockpit

Not even on a trial basis................  However the post war development of the la7 led to the La9 which had 4 x NS23 mm cannon
