Heya folks!     Does anyone know if there is a distance limit for cat 5 network cable?
   There is a 3Com ISDN/Network hub installed upstairs but it will take about 90-100 feet of cable to connect it to my PC in the basement. Also..would a 10mbps net card in my PC work or should I score a newer 100mbps setup?

Maximum lenght without repeaters for 10BaseT cable with RJ-45 connectors (Like you propably have) is 100meters = +300feets.

I'm using ADSL-modem/Hub combo (10Mb) between my laptop(with 10mb PCMCIA card) in livingroom and PC (with 10/100mbps card) in "Gameing" room and 10megs is enough for everything I ever do with those machines.

100meters or a little over 300 ft is the limit.  Cat5e will take you even a bit farther, but the specs are the same for distance.

100ft is no problem at all.

(Btw:  Norvac sells 100ft cat5e cables for $22.50. )
