PBY's at the ports..
« on: November 08, 2010, 09:23:26 PM »
My wish is pby's (catalina's) that can be launched from ports, and have teh .30's an .50's w/ a payload of around 4000lbs.  just think it would be really cool and something way different. maybe a zero floatplane.
what do ya'll think?

Very few Catalina's carried ord until later in the war after their role as a torpedo bomber was revoked and then it was primarily a night bomber.  Since we have no nights here......................... ..............

But.... +1 for the PBY.

It would be cool to use them as troop carriers when troops are not available from a ground base.

If you had a fleet nearby or even not so nearby, land the plane within a certain radius of the fleet somewhat like the re-arm pad and load troops for a base capture.

Fly in under radar and let them off on the shore of the offending base.

i second this

and it would probably take a lot of time to code something that can float and fly, so +1 to the pby but ONLY AFTER all other a/c are updated to AHII standards
