The destroyable runways disappeared long ago and with good reason. When the runways disappeared it took all concrete off of the base so that means no one could land successfully at the base.

According to the default offline settings, you can destroy a runway with 125,000 lbs of ordnance for 1 minute.     
Again, that's offline.

    Once in awhile our squad will go on what we call "Fishin Trips". We take off in B17s and pick an ord load. Head to an area where theres alot of lifters and pass overhead at 25k droppin 1 egg at a time over the spawn end of a runway. Doing this in intervals so chances increase of catching a fish. Your #1000 "hook" will catch more fish, but you can't carry as many in the ol tackle box as the #500 or #250.

   Like fishing sometimes you come back with nothing, but othertimes you bring back a haul.

My squad has been doing this for almost 2 years now and it is always a blast. I personally like to use the 24 100lb'ers and set salvo and delay for a carpet bombing effect. Though we usually do it below 20k to give uppers a better chance to kill us.

I do like the term fishing though.
