Event
Two frame event, which will be played in the Special Events Arena 2 (SEA2 in game menu).
Dates: Sundays, November 14th and 21st
Start time: 3PM EST

No preregistration is needed, just be there 30-15 minutes before the start time to have time to get organized.
If you want to volunteer as a CO for either side and plan the operations for RAF or Luftwaffe in advance, please announce that in this thread. Any volunteer COs are highly respected  :salute

Background
In the spring of 1940, Hitler's armies smashed
across the borders of the Netherlands and
Belgium and streamed into the northern reaches
of France. The German "Blitzkrieg" moved
swiftly to the west and the south, splitting
the British and French defenders, trapping the
British army at Dunkirk and forcing its
evacuation from continental Europe. The Germans
entered Paris on June 14 and forced France's
surrender on June 22. The British now stood
alone, awaiting Hitler's inevitable attempt
to invade and conquer their island.

Great Britain was in trouble. The soldiers rescued
from Dunkirk were exhausted by their ordeal.
Worse, most of their heavy armaments lay
abandoned and rusting on the French beaches.
After a short rest, the Germans began air
attacks in early summer designed to seize
mastery of the skies over England in preparation
for invasion. All that stood between the
British and defeat was a small force of RAF
pilots outnumbered in the air by four to one.

Day after day the Germans sent armadas of
bombers and fighters over England hoping to
lure the RAF into battle and annihilate the defenders.
Day after day the RAF scrambled their pilots
into the sky to do battle often three, four
or five times a day. Britain's air defense
bent but did not break. By September,
the Germans lost enthusiasm for the assault.
Hitler postponed and then canceled invasion
plans, turning his attention to the defeat
of Russia. In appreciation of the RAF pilots'
heroic effort, Winston Churchill declared:

"Never before in human history was so much
owed by so many to so few."

Damage carryover rule
The setup for both frames (Nov 14th and 21st) is the same.
Any damage done to RAF fields, radars etc. in this frame will carry over
to the next frame. This way the LW can for example
destroy certain key radars and create a corridor for the
next frame.

Rules about lives
Everybody has two lives per frame. You loose a life
if you get anything else than "landed successfully".

That means that you will have to land successfully
at any friendly base. This gives the RAF a slight
advantage with damaged planes, since they are fighting
above friendly territory.

Each player is responsible of counting their own lives and is
expected to honor the rules and fellow players. Using more than two lives
is visible from the logs after the event.

Radar
RAF has ranged dot radar.
This means that RAF pilots can see LW planes as
dots in radar when LW is in range.
The radar range is 25 miles and is indicated by the white
circles in the clipboard map if you have the option enabled.
Base flash radius is 7 miles.
The radar is updated with 120 second intervals.

Victory
Luftwaffe wins if they have managed to disable 5 out of the 7
RAF bases listed below by the end of the frame played on Nov 21st.
Disabling a base means destroying all fighter hangars there.

RAF wins if Luftwaffe cannot achieve the above objective.

Little background to my picture book.  These are shots from the last 20 minutes of frame.  With the Luftwaffe trying to punish the remnants of the convoy fleet and most of the green RAF pilots long gone I had to step up and make the enemy pay for their actions.

A 109 that strayed a little too far from his wingman, over the Convoy.  He won't be going home.

A very eager or maybe anxious Stuka pilot arrives a little too early.  Of course he pays dearly too.

I continue my hunt to find the rest of his gruppen.  In the Distance I see what appears to be a group of planes  "oh LOOK what do we have here".

A whole formation of Stuka!!  :O without escort!  I bet the Fighter escort C.O gets a right dressing down after this (if he makes it back)

I went through the formation one by one taking shots but these were lively fellows all jinking and diving.  Shooting away with rear gunners they were a determined bunch.  I put fatal hits in two of them when out of nowhere a heroic 109 pilot dashes in to the rescue.

Is that a HO or front quarter I cannot tell.   :old:   Either way it did him no good  :t

I break off assuming that he would go for home or ditch in the channel.

For the entire time fighting the 109 I kept hearing these dastardly pinging noises and for the life of me couldn't work out where they were coming from.  I spiral up to take a look and it was a bloody Stuka!   The cheek of it!  Will soon deal with you sonny jim,   I whip my beautiful spitfire around in a stall turn and go chasing down after him.

Take that you scoundrel!

He goes into the drink and I have no time to settle for the 109, after seeing his comrade killed, flashes past my cockpit.   I pursue underneath and gently bring my guns to bear.  There is no mistaking it this time.

The sky is empty and I begin my RTB,  there are two stukas attacking a port but my ammo was all well spent.  I vector in my squaddie who dispatches them with ease.

The battle is not won but both sides took a licking.  Please come join us on Sunday and do your duty!    :salute

Excellent fights and bigh salute to both sides  :salute

The Luftwaffe managed to knock out RAF base A14 completely and two fighter hangars from A7 and one hangar from A8. Most of the RAF radar network was destroyed.

The fight continues next Sunday and the Luftwaffe has a tough task of taking down four completely intact bases in addition of the damaged ones. It will be a hard nut to crack for sure!

Also the logs show that we had total of 37 pilots on the RAF side and 66 pilots on the Luftwaffe side, which means that in total there were 103 players in this SEC event! That is a first one to my knowledge, WTG people! Lets make it 120 pilots next week  Thumbs UP!

 :lol

I will share my latest entry in my journal to provide the full story that you seem to conveniently omit.

Frame 2, 1940
It was another beautiful day to fly over the channel and into Hells Corner.  The skies were once again filled with fellow 109 pilots all around, coupled with burning Spitfires and Hurricanes.  German Bombers reigned supreme over England as their bomb laden planes created havoc on the RAF fields below.

After a long day of fighting in the air, I flew alone deep over England to pick one more fight.  A great and honorable young lad from one of the Hurricane squadrons climbed to greet me and welcome the challenge.  This RAF pilot turned, spiraled and banked with the mightiest technology in the world known as the 109e.  The fight switched from a fight of energy to angles, from up high at six thousand meters to as low as one thousand.  All of London was able to watch as we performed the dance of death, flying with honor and grace, a classic dogfight with neither able to gain a solution and never separating for more than a thousand meters.  No doubt we could read the emotions of war on each others' faces.

Unfortunately British planes are no match for German engineering, thus I was eventually able to defeat this lad as I performed a series of maneuvers that placed myself onto the hurri's six!  As my 109e's guns opened up, the sounds of bullet hitting my plane came as a complete surprise!  I was unaware that a spitfire flown by Bruv had answered the Hurri's girlish calls for help.  With a Split-S I broke off the Hurri and quickly began searching for this second bogey, but to no avail.  Just as quickly as I had disengaged, I quickly turned my attention back to the hurricane and was able to gain another solution on the weary Hurri pilot in no time, but once again Bruv must have come out of orbit and this time connected with a larger amount of bullets on my now fragile 109.  As I fell to the earth I could see "frog legs" on the menu flash before my eyes.  I used this thought as my motivation to evade capture and swim across the channel towards occupied Europe where I was awarded a medal and a new 109.

With my new 109e, I pledge to return to England for the final frame and have my vengeance, in my first life, or in the next.

I can only hope Klingan hasn't purchased too many rounds of beer for his new hero Bruv, for I want them both to be sober on our next encounter.

Time's fun when you're having flies.
