Bios setting on initial setup
« on: November 02, 2001, 11:57:00 AM »
Couple of questions--

in the MB manual for my Epox 8KHA+, in the initial BIOS setup, I will come to advanced chipset features/ DRAM clock/drive control.

In here several setting are offerred. Should I choose SPD? (spd is defualt)

Also, system performance, I have 4 choices- normal, fast, fastest, turbo. Should I stay with the default (normal)? or should I choose a higher setting?

The MB comes with AWARD's ROM BIOS.

Thx for the help.

Leave the RAM to SPD (serial presense detect) which means that the eprom on the ram itself will tell your motherboard what its specs are.

As for the performance setting, I'd probably put it on normal and if you have no problems, bump it up a notch.  Certainly have it on normal for windows install and such.
