Before Wishlisting it Sea Hurricane
« on: November 16, 2010, 01:04:27 PM »
Are these numbers and specifications correct concerning the Sea Hurricane?

Sea Hurricane Mk IB

Hurricane Mk I version equipped with catapult spools plus an arrester hook. From July 1941 they operated from HMS Furious and from October 1941, they were used on Merchant aircraft carrier (MAC ships), which were large cargo vessels with a flight deck enabling aircraft to be launched and recovered. A total of 340 aircraft were converted. The first Sea Hurricane IB kill occurred on July 31, 1941, when Sea Hurricanes of 880 squadron, operating from HMS Furious shot down a Do 18 flying-boat.

Sea Hurricane Mk IC

Hurricane Mk I version equipped with catapult spools, an arrester hook and the four-cannon wing. From February 1942, 400 aircraft were converted. The Sea Hurricane IC used during Operation Pedestal had their Merlin III engines modified to accept 16 lb boost, and could generate more than 1400 hp at low altitude. Lt. R. J. Cork was credited with 5 kills while flying a Sea Hurricane IC during Operation Pedestal.

Sea Hurricane Mk IIC

Hurricane Mk IIC version equipped with naval radio gear; 400 aircraft were converted and used on fleet carriers. The Merlin XX engine on the Sea Hurricane generated 1460 hp at 6,250 ft and 1435 hp at 11,000 ft. Top speed was 322 mph at 13,500ft and 342 mph at 22,000 ft.

So what are you going to do when the Faiery Firefly gets introduced? Plug your ears, hold your breath and hope it goes away before you pass out?

How about when this gets introduced: SB2C-1C - 2 x 20mm cannons in place of 4 x 12.7mm machine guns in wings.

For the British fleet in the Med the Sea Hurri and the Sea Spit was about it for fighters.

Did Seahurrs see action against japanese navy?

Seahurrs and zeros would be an interesting match in AvA

Why do you still frequent these boards if you are a fallen two week warrior?

At any rate, I'd much rather see a Bf 109T (basically a slightly heavier carrier-bourne emil).

Don't know if any of the Sea Hurricanes saw action in the PTO.  Any reference to the Sea Hurricane that I've found has the plane seeing service on various HMS carriers doing convoy escort duties in the Atlantic and MTO.  The Sea Hurricane also took a major part in Operation Pedestal which was the successful, though costly, resupply of Malta.

Sea Hurricanes did not see action vs the Japanese. It is a very usefull addition for SEA designs though as it was a key fighter for the British in the Med vs the LW and Reggia Auronatica.

Would much rather see it than the Hurricane IV if I had a choice.

The last time I checked this was a public forum without having to play the game.  Don't let comments like Brown bother you, like you pointed out there are a lot of players that no longer play and still frequently post on these boards.  At least you've played this game, unlike guys like Gaston that post in here.
