Here is what the comp is telling us:
Network Diagnostics for Windows XP
Windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP, HTTPS, or FTP. This is probably due to firewall settings on this computer.
Check firewall settings for HTTP port (80), HTTPS port (443), and FTP port (21).
I was working on this thing a bit yesterday and was having nothing but trouble with IE (pulling random pages, saying Google.com doesn't exist, etc)
She was running AVG Free but for some reason that has disappeared. I installed Microsoft Malware and Security Essentials.
The scans picked up and removed one bugger, sorry but I can't remember the name of it right now. I went over the IE setting over the phone and all seems to be ok. The strange part is that she can access e-mail, so I know it's not a complete DSL failure. She called her ISP and of course they are blaming the newly installed programs.
I'm planning on looking at it again tonight, but I'm at a loss. Any idea what I might be overlooking? Other than the obvious get rid of IE and use Firefox.
Thanks.
