No I believe I have it exactly correct.

321bar pointed out the basic reasons why but there are a few more subtle, yet very important reasons why this would be good for the game.

The two peak arenas will be up for 9 hours, as opposed to the offpeak arena which will be up for 15 hours.  Creating a goal oriented game environment is critically important for the survival of this game!  Players must believe they can accomplish what they wish to do.  If that is win the war, then they must have the chance to do it.  The only way they can do that is on a smaller map right now.  Basically each country has one week to win the war before the titanic tuesday reset.  On peak hours, each arena will have 9*7=63 hours of battle to win the war.  Off peak arena will have 15*7=105 hours of battle to win the war.  Just going off this math, the off peak arena should be more difficult to reset.

Do not take this point lightly.  Win the war players are extremely important to the health of this game, and if they feel they can win, the game will be much better for everybody.
i gotta learn to think in the line of win teh warz style during these discussions... :aok every style of gameplay is important and i believe that this constitutes the majority of the players

no hes right. it would help stabilize the amount of players in the two peak hour arenas. two small maps makes for good fights and if both are used evenly both will run well and the large off peak would be for euro primetime etc where they need alot of space for players. if im incorrect in my statement feel free to correct me

There will be around 150-170 players in both LWA's when the caps kick in (7 PM CET), around 230 players in both LWA during euro prime time (9 PM CET). Are those number too big for a smaller map? I'm going to say no.

So, I feel the euro prime time arena would benifit from having only smaller maps in rotation.

I can't disagree with having a smaller map in play for that either, although it will get reset more frequently...

To hell with the large maps (except titanic tuesday), the community isn't big enough for em.  Can I get an amen!?

even on titanic tuesday the majority of players go straight for the biggest fight. last night there were only two fights for bishops. one against rooks and one against knights. both included over 50 planes attacking the bishops and approx the same for defending. i couldnt stay in the air for more than two minutes if i upped from either base and got very lucky if i upped from another base to defend against the super hordes and even then i could barely kill one or two each flight before being forced to rtb or i'd die. not much fun for most players there

sorry could you clarify kazaa?

HiTech stated the off-peak arena would be closed at 3:00PM Central, which is 9:00PM Central European Time or CET. At this time, the max population of this arena would only be around 230 people; don't forget there would be a a lot less players during the euro day, just 70 in the morning to 140 mid afternoon. So, it would be a very bad idea to have a large map in the off-peak arena as these were made to support the old 800 player MA, a smaller map would be a wise choice.

HiTech, have you considered the size of the maps in play at different times?  Just a suggestion, but it may be wise to have the two in play maps during peak hours be small maps and the one off peak map be a large map.

a question for ya on that idea.

in the arena i fly in, there are usually small maps up. we  all like this. but with only 20 players in, it can get crowded.....we like that too. but with a couple hundred, might a small map not get over crowded?

I've felt the same way about large maps since the LWA was split in two. :aok

When I get online during lunch time, there's only 70 people in LWO, if the map is compello or any other monster map then I don't even bother playing; those maps were made to support the old 800 player MA.

How many people are online, in both LWA during US prime time?

I think the off-peak arena should be extended for at least another hour, let the European players have a single arena till about 10pm or so their time. I don't think the majority of US players start logging in till well after 3pm cst.

We are using general terms calling maps 'small'.  LW "small" maps are very large compared to ava maps.  Small maps have a critical mass point, but I don't think it is reached with split arenas.  Large maps also have a critical mass point, but the critical mass point for the large maps is governed by its minimum mass point which isn't reached very often in the current state of the game.

Is there going to be an overlap period where all arenas are open? Lets say that I get on at 2:40PM eastern (20 min before transition from off peak set up to peak time set up) will I be able to access the peak time set up at this time or will I have to wait in the off peak set up until the transition?

I think it would be a good idea to have the opening of the incoming arena happen 15-20 minutes before the closing of the outgoing arena to smooth out the transition. This will allow people to finish their flight and immediately change arenas instead of popping up for a short flight or waiting in the hanger.
