I hope terrorists never learn how to use their pants as a weapon, because I like wearing pants on airplanes.

Seriously though, TSA blindly makes rules with absolutely no regard to the probability of something occurring.

In all walks in life as a society you have to accept some level of risk to keep things working feasibly.  Now, I'm going to get all nerdy here and relate to my RL thangs but, in building design, there is always a small chance that an individual structural component will fail or the entire structure will fail.  The probabilities of such events occurring are very small if designed correctly, and are usually in the magnitude of failure = .0001 but there is always a chance.  You could over design every building so the probability of failure is in the realm of .00000000000001 but it's just not economically feasible.  In fact it would be too damn expensive to build anything.  The key is balancing risk with economy.  Same goes for this crap.  They are trying to take the chance of any sort of terrorist act down to one in a trillion when in doing so, are making the entire process completely ridiculous.

But why only on planes?  As far as I can tell, any terrorist could walk into my kids school and blow it up.  Ohhh thats right, planes cost too match and airlines and insurance companies have lobbyists.

Lets get the TSA at the door of every building.  Schools, bars, work, restaurants, buses, trains, taxi cubs lol.  Why are we only scared that someone would blow up a plane?  You can make more damage elsewhere.

Lets get some more drop outs jobs  :aok

Toenail clippers are not on the TSA's list of restricted items.

What is the point of this article?  Get rid of the TSA and screening?

Who would want to get rid of the TSA and screening?

Hmmmmm

I also think thqat most folks are clueless as how how thick the skin of an aircraft ISN'T.

If they did, most would not fly anymore.

I know that the Bearhawk that I am building has wing ribs that are .025" 2024-T3, the spars are .032" 2024-T3 and the wing skin is .025 2024-T3.

Fuselage, control surfaces and tail feathers are fabric over 4130 tube.

My friends see this and say "I'm not getting in that thing" when they don't realize that most commercial a/c are made of the same thing  :lol

Airplanes are not build to withstand a crash.

Which is why they should make them out of the same stuff they use for the black boxes. :)

Airlines are charged for airport security, so no airport security would suit them fine for their bottom line.
