That is the message I get when I try to connect to online arenas. I have tried disabling firewall to see if there is a difference, but it still will not connect.

Here are two quotes and a thread link that you might browse.

Firewalls all have thier own way of doing things.  Something on your computer is blocking the game from accessing the Internet, or you are behind a router which has a firewall enabled and it is blocking the game from the Internet, or both.

First thing to do is determine what is blocking the games access to the Internet.

It might be this

I was getting this error "unable to connect for version checking. please check all firewall settings".

so I got rid of my Mcafee firewall, installed ESET and the program ran flawlessly
