Good Me 410 vid
« on: November 27, 2010, 09:27:37 PM »
Yes yes, I know it lost the vote.

Still and all, a decent vid here. Old LW footage, dubbed in Russki, but shows the operation of the main bay doors, the flaps, leading edges, the rear gun mechanism and has some other good close-ups.

Thanks. Does anyone know if the dive brakes seen at 7:38 were present on all types?

Also, cool to see the barbettes in motion from 7:53.

Awesome, thanks!

Great stuff as usual Scherf. :aok

One thing I noticed in the video, the view through the lower windscreen is obscured with the bombbay doors closed.

It appears there's an armoured plate that is lowered as the bombdoors open to allow sighting through the lower window, this is something I'd never noticed before.

And yes I noticed the divebrakes, this is something I was aware of and will have to consult some of my files as to whether or not it was standard or only on the Snellbomber versions. Almost as interesting was the view of the coolant ducting and how it is tyed to the flaps, wonder if there was extra thrust generated by this design.

After some checking it looks like all the 410's had/have the divebrakes.

It was built into the wing with an upper and lower slotted design.

Looking at the video a second time I wonder, if we ever get the 410,how the rear firing guns would be modeled.

It would seem like a waste of ammo if both guns fired all the time,I'm pretty sure the gunner could control which gun fired and it makes me wonder how that would be modeled, maybe a primary, secondary fire system only it would be a left/right instead with a fire all at the appropriate firing angles.

"wonder if there was extra thrust generated by this design"

No, no coolant system does. However, depending on the design the cooler design can compensate some of drag it creates.

Thanks for nice link Scherf.

Three turrets. Both guns are a turret each, an an additional "empty one" - that's the gunners position. No gun of it's own, but with "fire all" you shoot all turrets having a free line of fire to the target, just like in any other multi-turret bomber.

I was waiting for someone else to notice...

At :22 is that a rising sun on the plane, or are my uneducated and mildly retarded eyes not recognizing another countries markings that are similar to Japans.  It was shown later on in the 410 part of the video but I believe it was the same footage.

Glad you guys like the clip.

I believe Japan received a single 210, maybe the one in the photo.

Edit - http://ww2db.com/image.php?image_id=5707

Assorted searches say it was Wrk.Nr. 2350, lengthened fuselage, Me 410 wings and DB601Fs.
