Which Video Set ?

What video setting would you use if you
were capable of any setting?
Would that setting be benificial as to
shooting/scenery/manuvering ?
1024x768  1280x1024  1600x1200
16 or 32 bit.

Having finally seen AH in 32 Bit I could never go back to 16 Bit  

As far as resolutions are concerned I think Frame Rate is far more important than eye candy. So whatever you can get away with that keeps the frame rates upto at least 30 when fighting. (Forget heavy smoke that kills most systems below a 600 MGHZ - JMO). I have tried AH in everything right upto 1600x1200 but 1280x1024 suits me best.

Well if you have a monitor that can handle 1600x1200x32 I would go with that, however if you have a vid card that can do FSAA (v5 is best at it) you may want to look at 1024x768x32@ 2xFSAA, that looks VERY nice aswell.  It all depends on taste, but if your monitor only goes to 1280x1024, 1024x786 with 2x FSAA looks better.

I have a 21" monmitor with a Herc 64 MB card & 933 mhz PC.
I have been using 1200 set but heard a lower set would be benificial for Manv & shooting?

Will keep reading this post, and trying all the suggestions.

ok well i would go with 1600x1200 without FSAA , and also try 1024x768 with 2x FSAA, its those 2 yer gonna need to choose from

If you have a 21" monitor, I would recommend as high a resolution as you can run.  Basically it depends on frame rates.  As long as it stays above 20 fps or so in combat, you should be fine.

While running my benchmarks, I discovered the current GeForce cards will only run up to 120Hz vertical refresh rates.
Also discovered the currently released 6.50 Detonator drivers do not allow you to enable vertical sync for D3D mode.  Still researching this, but have not found a way to enable it.
If vertical sync is truly enabled, the maximum therotical frame rate for the GeForce cards is 120, due to the vertical refresh rate limit.
You definately want vsync enabled for AH, or you will suffer problems with shooting accuracy, especially at higher resolutions.

Still working on the benchmarks,..All I have left are 2 different processors, 3 GeForce cards, and 2 different drivers for them.  WOOHOO!

HI-- 933 MHz 256 ram  Hercules 3D Prohet ll
GTS 64 MB
I cheked with Panasonic (PanaSync E21) they reccomended 100 Hz for 1024 but said not to go above 71 Mz for higher res.
I have it set for 1024 100Mz & Default for
1600-1200 at 32 bit.
Would some one explain what 2FSSA or 4FSSA
means and where do I set it?
I have set Vert Sync at ON BY DEFAULT.
This is done in the Open GL section.

Screaming,...the VSync setting in OpenGL only affects software thatuse OpenGL instead of D3D.
AH uses D3D for video chores, not OpenGL.

In the D3D setup however, you can and should select the "High image quality" setting in the "Mipmap" detail level.  This will reduce vertical tearing of textures and give better texture lighting.

With the 6.50 Detonator drivers, the only option for V-Sync is for OpenGL programs.  As AH does not use OpenGL, this setting will have no effect.
However, if you play other games that use OpenGL, then this setting will have an impact on your game.

FSAA stands for Full Scene Anti Aliasing.  It is a filtering method that reduces the "jaggies", the jagged edges that come from trying to display anything other than a perfectly vertical or horizontal line with limited resolution.  One solution is to turn on FSAA, which filters the image and makes the edges look smooth instead of jaggy.  It also tends to eliminate some of the crawling and flashing you get with jagged edges when the scene moves.  The downside is that it takes more power to do the filtering, so it will degrade your framerates.  It works best at resolutions of 1024x768 and below, but you can use it at higher resolutions if you have enough power.  Try it and see if your framerates stay high enough for your tastes.  

Your system should have to horsepower to run FSAA at at least 2x I would guess.  I don't know where you set that, but it should be in the advanced driver properties someplace.  Can somebody with one of these cars give more specific instructions?
