It's a gaming laptop ;)
bought it last year at Camp Lejuene for $1300.
I run on high setting with 0 issues.

My anti-virus was hanging up after closing in processes (never had that happen before) and wasn't COMPLETELY shutting down. Just disappearing from my process list. Did some work with it and fixed it :)

I play MoH, CoD and many other games with 100% settings with no issue, she's a beast. :)

Still flying one plane with radio buttons disabled.  So far so good.

Re-mapping the keys and joy stick took a while, but re-setting all the views on all the A/C in AH is going to take a lot longer.

I thought about just moving the plane settings over from the former (No start up) file and I might make  copy of the game and try it.  Surely would save a lot of time.  Problem is, there seems to be two sets of settings for the planes.  One is in a folder called "Planes" and the others are just mixed in with all the other settings.

I hate to call AH again though...

I tried to import the prior plane settings, but the game locked up again after I did.

Decided to reset all views one plane at a time.  It's gonna take quite a while, but this time I'll leave out anything that I don't ordinarily fly like Typhoons, Tempests and all bombers.

I don't dare remap the Vox buttons though.  Can't take the chance.

If this is readily duplicated, then contact me via email.  That goes for anyone seeing this.

Well it would have been, right up to when I posted. Is the code Whine-Interactive? Seems like when I whine about some problem it suddenly goes away  :headscratch:

Maybe I had an issue with my pc which self rectified.

Game setup:  New downloaded games (2) - flying one plane with one skin.  Vox buttons deactivated.

Still getting the "White Square" lockup whenever I click on icon to start either (post update) game.  After shutting down the game and then trying a second time it opens (No white square lockup).  This has been consistant ever since I found how to shutdown AH without a hard shutdown of the PC.

Alt+F4 doesn't work, nor does Ctl + Alt + Delete, but right clicking the game tag in the bar at bottom of screen and selecting "close" does shut it down after about a 5 second delay.

Note:  After downloading a fresh AH game with no changes, I had plane auto takeoff (off line) and hit Vox transmit.  That caused instant lockup of game.  The PC does have to be hard shutdown then.

Thanks to TequilaChaser's advice I was able to get the vox lockup bug fixed. After lowering my Page File to a max of 200mb my vox is working great. see the thread in the bug reports section for more tips to try if this doesn't work for you.

@Marine your running a laptop?  Not the best platform for this game.  Your going to have to scale you play setting down.  Also with your sound try using the windows drivers rather then the the manufacture provided ones.  Also if your web cam is external, unplug it reboot then play.

TilDeath pointed out some obvious things.... not all Operating Systems are the same ( WinXP, Vista, Win7 ) their pagefile used sizes will be extremely differing in size..a WinXP is best a 200mb's or less where as Vista and windows 7 will be way up around 750mb's +/- upwards possibly

also, The very little space left on the Hard Drive, means your computer has to scan / search through all that data to access/read/write/access/read/write...... in turn possibly causing slow downs or hiccups in the using of the page file.especially if the pagefile is set to Windows managed and is not set to a specific area...your pagefile could be all over the HD possibly...

the USB stuff is problematic as well as having all those video/graphics/programs loaded up and possibly running in the background

another thing would be the power setting for a laptop..... when gaming on a laptop, you should have everything in the power management/power options control: set to High Performance, with nothing being set to be able to be automatically go to sleep, or shutdown, or what have you.... everything concerning a Laptop while gaming should be set to Never for the most part concerning the power options...

here is a link to Skuzzy's Tips on Vista and windows 7 tips ( although it is titled READ THIS: Internet Connection Hints/Tips )

checkout the #5 & #6 under the "MY CONNECTION SUCKS"  section, it is bout 1/2 way down the 1st post......

edited: also, always remember with the UAC function of vista and Windows 7,youshould always make sure you are running your programs /games as administrator ( Right click the Program Icon and click on "run as administrator".... his will avoid alot of problems for most )

please feel free to make any corrections to my post, if I have posted any misleading information, for I do not want to misguide anyone....

hope this is of some help......   :salute

Having the same trouble and posted about it here in this thread tonight. Sent in a pingplotter trace to Skuzzy so lets see if something shakes loose; need to be up and running before FSO tomorrow night...finally getting to fly some Russkie iron.

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,303868.0.html

I have been playing the Beta for DCS: A-10C but its in a different folder entirely and I have been rebooting my system after each instance just in case something is messed up.

UPDATE!

Well I figured out what was holding it back....something that was never set to begin with and even though I have been back with Win7 as the OS for over a year now it was never checked off. "Run as Administrator"

That still doesn't say or explain how or why it worked with out that being checked for over a year.

I'm having the same problem with the white screen upon trying to open the game. So I deleted the icon from my desktop, the one that is put there when you download. Then I went into program files and highlighted Aces Hgh and clicked on create shortcut. I pulled that onto my desktop. Now, everytime I hit the shortcut icon Aces High comes up, no white screen.

Now I don't know much about troubleshooting computers. And I don't know why this worked. All I can say is it worked on my Dell XPS 400, WinXp Pro w/ 1 gig RAM.

I just thought I'd pass this along since it worked for me.  :old:

glad you got it working........ sounds like the short cut became "invalid" or the shortcut link got messed up on its registry key entry.......

this can happen when people try to do a defrag, or clean their registry up, or use those optimizer/maintenance clean up programs or tweaker programs...

is hard to say, but these are just a few suggestions to why the shortcut might have stopped working properly

hope this helps

Returning to a restore point will also mess up the game in very unexpected ways.
